Horizontal Cooling Power Station for PS3 Slim
My ps3 constantly froze from over heating, maybe 4 times a day. But with this neat little thing it does not. I put a thermometer on it before and after and the difference is amazing, before it would run at 130 degrees and now with the fan it runs at 110, mind you that my room is poorly ventilated, so it should work even better for you. And my ps3 stopped freezing!
Slick Little Fan
Installation was a breeze you literally just set your Slim PS3 on top of it, plug it in to an outlet and turn it on. Simple as that. I keep my PS3 in a shelf on my entertainment center and was worried about the heat building up. I used to use the Nyko Intercooler Slim for PS3 (which was terrible) and this seems to keep the PS3 at a lower temperature more quietly and efficiently than its predecessor. The added USB hub is great for charging controllers without using the systems USB slots for things like a headset that actually need to communicate with the system. Having the power save feature is great, the TempSense automatically turns on when your system gets heated up and turns off when a more stable temperature has been achieved. Example: While playing a game and being about 30 minutes in I heard the fan kick on. It stayed on even after I turned off my system and went to bed, woke up the next morning and it had turned off. One last thing I like about it, all of the plug ins in the back are so much more easily accessible than the Nyko Intercooler Slim for PS3. I literally have every plug in being used back there, power (duh), AV Multi Out for surround sound, Digital Out Optical for headset, HDMI for the TV, and an Ethernet cable for online as I prefer wired to wireless (trust issues haha). To the guy that gave it a one rating I have no idea what kind of janky PS3 system he has but mine has no USB's in the back. This is a great product and would recommend it to anyone and everyone looking at potentially buying it.
Buy If your desperate
this system is basically a tray with 2 coolers on the rear usb pors on the front since when you set your PS3 into it it will block your USB ports on the unit.
the problem with this is 2 fan design only pulls hot air out of the right rear of your system and does not really cool your PS3 I used a temp sensor on mine it showed a temp drop of only 3-5 degrees while running full out at 100 degrees while playing black ops 2 and Downloading 3 God of war games.
if you really want to chill your PS3 you can do 1 of 2 things buy a cooler with 3 or more fans or install a liquid cooling system that uses coolant to help achieve a colder unit im working on a liquid chiller for mine that does not go inside at all but utilizes cool pipe technology front to rear and suction fans for better chilling When i finalize my design I will make it available so you can see how its made and installed.
Clever Design, but you pay for what you get.
I bought this cooling station for myself and overall, I think if given the option to stop myself from buying it, I would have. It's not a BAD piece of hardware, but you pay for what you get. I like the convenience of just placing the console on the cooling station and switching it on. The fan is designed to suck hot air out of the PS3, but this is where it fails. It sucks hot air out, but only slightly. The decrease in temp is hardly noticeable. I should have bought something with a more powerful fan I would have gladly paid more for
Very good and effective
This is a great cooling system that also serves as a USB port as well. It allows me to play more and for me to have more USB capacity which is always great. Definitely buy it. It's a must have.
Don't waisted your money
I bought this thinking it was going to work like a charm. Man was I wrong it sucks, I have my ps3 inside an entertainment shelve not closed, and he area was extremely hot, ps3 making a weird sound, just not worth it
