Rated 6 out of 10 by Endwar 3 THE GODFATHER
Well there many things to say about this game but let me say I love the godfather say every single movie all the way to the end it was a true classic anyways to the game storyline is basically the movie except you get to create a character witch was a fun part and well dozen of things you could make him look like graphics were just terrible sorry but they were just horrible but you really don't pay attention to those because everysingle mission will be hard everyone and you will get frustrated at times and you earn money and move up in ranks for completing them witch feels great weapons were good they have what they had in the 50's tommy gun shotgun magnum not a very good selection at all another very stupid thing is that its extremely hard to find were your supposed to go I've failed Lot's of mission because of it and you will hate it so you will be indeed challenged throughout the game and if you start a mob war well GOODLUCK.cars were horrible very slow I mean it too slow and it's the same cars there's only 3 cars in the game.but out of every single thing wrong with this game it's fun and you won't go threw it with out a fight

Amazing free roam crime game, especially if you think the whole "mafia" or "mob" kinda time-period and feel is cool. I LOVE THE SHOOTING SYSTEM. Hide behind a wall, pop out, BAM headshot, next victim. I love influencing the shopkeepers, although pretty easy. The real challenge is in getting 100% on it. I'm like 86% with almost 40 hours of gameplay. The warehouses are tough, tons of dudes everywhere. The A.I. is better than GTA when it comes to close combat gun fights. The rival family's capos will straight pop outta nowhere and blast you with a shotgun and say "I could say I'm sorry...but I'm not." GTA never gave me too big a challenge with cunning like that, the challenge was to not get shot by the 40000 Haitains, Ballas, Triads or whatever gang in whatever forsaken city you happen to be taking over. The Godfather only has one bad thing, the business takeovers, hubs, warehouses and such get so repetitive after time because all the bars have the same floorplan, all the whore houses have the same floorplan, and so on. It's like taking the same business 25 times. Other than that, killer deal for the money, GET IT, it's and offer you can't refuse.
Rated 10 out of 10 by REALEYEZ Almost flawless
This game takes you deep into the Corleone crime family, very in depth gameplay even down to a conversation with anybody in the open ended New York City. Marlon Brando was most impressive, the voice over was a very nice touch to an already impressive game. I would say the best feature I saw was the execution styles, theres over 20 that you can master, a shot to the head, a pimp slap then a stomp to the cranium. Or my favorite would be the shot to the gut then the bullet to the head(the hat comes flying off from the shot) very nice. All in all this game offeres plenty to do, robbing banks, taking over wherehouses, throwing women out of windows who crowd your apartment. And unlocking every snuff scene from the movie, even the death of the Don. This game definently has my vote and my respect. Great movie great game.
Rated 10 out of 10 by CadillacGuy The coolest Mafia game to ever grace the PS2!
I downright love this game! The things I like the most are:
1. True to the 'God Father' series
2. Period correct weaponry
3. A good difficulty, emphasizing more on cover and tactics instead of run-and-gun tactics.
4. An immersible character creation/customization experience (including physical changes to your such as multiple hair styles, scars, etc. Almost an endless plethora of customizable features).
5. A large, free roaming area allowing hours of fun.
The graphics are stunning for a PS2 game, especially one running an ENTIRE city. The sound is excellent, featuring the voices of Marlon Brando (the Godfather himself), James Caan (Sonny Corleone), and Robert Duvall (Tom Hagen). this game does however contain strong language and is extremely graphic (violence), and is such not recommended for children.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Batman217 The Most Awesomest Movie Game Ever
Welcome to the Corleone family. the game starts i do not really know the name but you got to beat up 2 guys. Whats sad about it is that it was an ambush and they kill the guy the player is controlling. 10 years passed you are a no body in NYC and you need to find a way to the the top. The game features likenesses from all of the Godfather movies, what amazed me about this game was the gameplay slow and smooth. The game takes place during the 1950s. the guns are not too hard to handle you don't need to waste a lot of bullets killing one person the game gets an A+ rating in my collection.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Babyluigi91 Great, But Just 1 Flaw(thorough review)
I'm a big gamer, and I try often enough to write honest reviews, but I also need to be honest, and I try not to push people away from games they'd like to try. But if you want a real review I'll be happy to give you one.
Overall, this is a GOOD game, you can even say great, I guess. However, the flaw that concerned me was the inaccuracy of the locations. In my opinion, that was real important, because it really shortened the length of the game, and limited you to the amount of places you can go. For instance, if you have seen the movie like i did, you would know the locations of the five families. For instance, the Corleones were set in Little Italy, and the game did that correctly, like the Tattaglias in Brooklyn, and the Barzinis in Midtown. The Cuneos were in the Bronx, and the game put them in the West Side, and the Straccis are from Staten Island, and EA put them in New Jersey. Also, Louis' Restaurant was in the Bronx, and EA set it in Midtown. Despite the locations, which was the only flaw in my opinion, everything else was decent enough. It went with the story, but the story was too short. However, taking over territory made it longer, and more enjoyable. I would recommend the game to anyone who likes third-person shooters, and is interested in mob games. You might not like it much if you believe it HAS to be consistent with the movie, but its just the locations that are off. I got the game because I love the saga, and I enjoyed it fairly well. If you like to pass the time and get an idea of the saga if you never saw the movie because you thought it was too long, this game will fill you in. so yes, get this game if you like it. If not, that's on you.

Ok, I bought this game like 4 years ago and I was stunned. Totally tops all other GTA games for the PS2. I lost the game about 3 years ago and still haven't deleted it's file on my PS2 memory card. Character customization is great, along with cool "You vs. huge italian mafia family" fights. Plus, awesome graphics for PS2.
Rated 10 out of 10 by John E Truely amazing
I first saw this game on an addition of game trailers tv, and right off the bat, I wanted it. After years of drooling at gta, we found the closest thing to it. Now that I have gta, I find this game more enjoyable than it.Pros:Open world-even though it's based in one city, it's a huge enviornment and even after three years, I'm still exploring. Also, like in San Andreas you can freely buy safehouses.Grafics: Although this game is PS2, it truely pushes the system to the limit and they still hold up today.Story: This game has an amazing story, if you are looking for a movie game, this is not one. However, there are a few missions that tie to the movie.Controls:The controls for shooting are fairly common place, however, the controls for hand to hand conflict are the only of it's kind.Character Customization: The character customization for this game is great, you can alter your clothing, hair, facial hair, and your face or as they've dubbed it, your mobface.Sound: The sound in the game is great. From the way they shotgun's shot carries to the quick "pow" of the .38 it's perfect. Also, EA got many of the characters from the movie to come and do voicing for the game. This includes Robert Duvall and Marlon Brando (R.I.P) in his final performance.Cons:Game Length: Although it took me a while to beat this, if you stick only to the missions, you could probably beat it in about ten hours.Difficulty: Although at the start the game is quite difficult, around the middle of the game, at about level 30 it is way too easy.Overall, the game is great. The enviornment it's set in is great and overall awesome. A must own for anybody who loves, the Godfather, Grand Theft Auto, or video games in general.
Rated 10 out of 10 by locomoco333 don't waste 20 bullets on one person
the grapics of this game where great. I loved the gameplay and the story of the game. this game has been one of the games that I have not passed and then regret buying. TIP: when trying to take a mob compoud or warehouse or hub dont waste all the ammo on a single person.
Rated 10 out of 10 by JimmySqurril Fantastic! Extremely Fun!
At first I had my doubts about the Godfather. After all, the movie and book were such masterpieces, and most die-hard fans wouldn't want to be dissappointed. But this game is fantastic! The graphics are amazing, and while you may fly through the story missions, there is much more to do (like extorting businesses & rackets, taking over warehouses, and even just random street killings). Once you do enough of all this to reach 90- something percent of the game's completion, you are given infinate ammuntion. This game is challenging- getting "iced" is never fun - but not so hard that anyone couldn't enjoy it. I was pleasantly supprised by the control system, and it makes the game much more fun as you push the "r" joystick violently forward to punch somebody, rather than just hitting square button. The storyline is almost no different then in the movie and book, aside from you being the one who does the dirty work, and eventually destroying the other 5 Families. This may be a dissapiontment that nothing much was added to aside from the final result of your efforts to steal power from other families, but at least that means the story wasn't butchered. There are tons of ways to kill people- using guns, a garrote, dynamite, molotaves, cars, and your bare hands! These events are of course filled with cries of "Somebody call the Cops!" and swells of dramatic music. In short, I would STRONGLY recomend this game to anyone!, keeping in mind the "M" rating of course. There is lots of blood and language in this game, somewhat more than in the movie and book). This is one of the best and most Awesome games I have ever played, if not the best and most awesome. It is almost similar to Grand Theft Auto, but in my opinion at least 5 times better. The Godfather for The PS2 is an EPIC WIN!
