Rated 9 out of 10 by ChrisHeartnet A Proper Review
I looked at the other reviews here and it seemed a bit one sided and misinformative. Let me start off by saying that this is not like the Budoaki series in any way. The gameplay of Super Dragonball Z is Street Fighter-esk. So if you're coming over from the Budokai series you're in for something quite different. Now that's out of the way I can properly review the game. Modes: You have your typical tournament mode, where you fight 8 fighters in a row. That is the main mode of this game. There is not a story mode in the game, which is kind of a shame because it makes the game quite short in a way. The second main mode in this game is called "Z Survivor" where you take your custom character. Custom Characters don't mean original, it's just a character like Goku with custom experience and upgrades. Z Survivor is where you gain that experience and gain dragonballs. Once you collect 7 dragonballs you can wish for more characters, maps, moves, and upgrades. Other modes available are: training and Versus. Overall I think it's a great game and a good step away from the norm when it comes to most DBZ fighters. I would definitely pick it up and give it a go. Oh and lastly, I think it's the best looking DBZ game to date.

This game was one I was intrested in so I bought it. The game has many problems. For one, the controls are so confusing, making it so the chances you can perform supers VERY unlikely. But the worst part is, it has no story mode! I personally like my story modes in my games so this was a big let down for me. The only 2 good parts is the customization and the characters. Some of the characters in this game, have never been in any other games so that was unique. The customization was intresting because you could change Trunks' sword and characters costumes. But besides that, this is a terrible game so i reccomend you AVOID THIS if you want a ps2 dragon ball z game, get infinite world or bt3. Not this. I found no enjoyment and quit playing after day 2!

This is a disgrace to dbz games. Many games, even if they are bad, have at least one redeeming quality. Not so with super dbz. The graphics are supposed to look like the manga, but it just looks AWFUL! The sound effects aren't from the anime, the music will make your ears bleed pure hatred. The controls are a crime to any game. In most dbz games, an energy attack is done by pushing about 2 buttons. With this game, you have to do a complicated motion with the analog stick while holding random buttons. There is not story mode (a crime in a dragon ball game) and only a handful of characters. It will take a wish from Shenron to wash away this filth.

When I first played this, I thought it would be okay. BUT then lateeerr, the darn game was BORING! The graphics were worse than Budokai 1. NO STORYMODE, what kind of dbz game would not have a storymode?? Another problem, you can only have one super saiyan transformation, why the heck would there be one super saiyan transformation when teen gohan's transformation makes him look like a super saiyan 2? Okay, this game has MANY MANY problems, even ones I don't feel like saying. I suggest you stay away from this game!!!

I'm a huge dbz fan and have enjoyed most of there games to an extent but this game was horrid the controls were confusing and felt clunky and cumbersome instead of its earlier predecessors and those super moves we like to use in dbz games well those are almost impossible to perform and there isn't even a story something that's iconic to dbz games.

Rated 5 out of 10 by DBZPlayer16 So many problems.
So few charecters, near impossible controls, no story mode, no online, no tournament, THIS GAME IS JUST BAD. One of the only good thing about it is mystic gohan's kai outfit. Even Burst Limit is better than this. Get a Budokai game instead. Get something like Budokai 2/3 or Infinite World. Those are a LOT better than Super DBZ. And seriously, what kind of name is that.
