Rated 10 out of 10 by VentusXII Best RPG of 2004
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is one of the better games released in 2K4. To see you other people's terrible reviews just makes me sick. Screw what Fayt says within the game, the game isn't targeted to lowlife people who want to see some kid hook up with some girl. Screw the fact that the game breaks the 4th wall (Oh my god, the 4th isn't important, AT ALL.)SO:TiEoT was primarily made for its stunning visuals, and good music, and its great gameplay. Sure, characters dying cuz of no MP kinda sucked, but that is to make the player have a greater train of thought while playing. The storyline was good, forget anyone who thinks otherwise. Character custimization was great, the HUD had nice touches, and the game was VERY long. The addition that the Japanese didn't get till their CE, the two player mode in that dungeon whose name I forgot, was a nice thing to put, I play with my sister and (girl) friend all the time. SO:TtEoT gets a 10 out of 10, no doubts at all about it. P.S 4D mode is SO HARD.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Jerzinger A RPG game at its best
Let me tell you, Star Ocean, from the start of the game, had convinced me to play it, and enjoy it. It is epic, exciting, and tantalizing. Truthfully, this game is one of the best games I've ever played, for its challenge, tenacity, and interest. I played it, and I was playing and playing for days, and I've never gotten bored of it. If you're patient and willing to play this game, you will see that it is a great role playing game, and designed to near perfection. The puzzles and storyline is very interesting, and the graphics are quite well created. The length is very modest, and it is enough for a person to enjoy this game. The battle system was well done, and the sound really gives the game a better sense of what a game should deliver to its customer. The one thing I'd say is a little hokey, was the voices. At times, in the battle system, it kinda bothered me as I played, but overall, it is an ingenious and creative video game, and it is one for the story books, because Star Ocean is just an epic and great video game. Try it for yourself, and you will see that it is an awesome game too.
Rated 7 out of 10 by Nikolaii Good, But Not For Traditional Or Casual RPGers!
I was expecting this to be like a "Tales of..." game in a futuristic setting, but that's were I went wrong. If you're into traditional RPG games with swords and magic, don't fret, this game has plenty of those and its a solid RPG. The game mechanics are a little odd, pressing "x" as the action button doesn't always work too well, you have to be directly in front of an object or person, which gets annoying. Dungeons are obnoxiously long and convoluted, so if you're looking for challenging gameplay full of enemies and only a few puzzles to solve, this game will probably be the best thing you've ever played! But if you're more into traditional RPG games, you may want to stay away. This game scores high in everything else: decent graphics, story, character development, etc. If you're looking for a dungeon -crawling, adventure RPG to play for hours, give this a shot.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Jason The Meg & Dia Fan Very well put together
Square always seems to make good RPG and lucky for us they have gifted us with Star Ocean III. There really is not flaws and the game is very difficult to figure out, but that seems to be a good thing. The Character customization is stunning, although some characters are irritating there are more good than bad. The Storyline is unlike any other I have seen and although you spend most of your time on a single planet it seems to do well for itself. The Length of the game is long and offers a few sidquests. The battle system is Real Time and you will do much switching around with your characters for them to use magic and other things. The game will take some time to figure out and get used to playing, which can lead to much frustration give it some time and you will end up liking it. I recommend this to any RPG Fan.
Rated 10 out of 10 by WhiteQueenAlice A Masterpiece RPG
For the casual gamer, this game may seem overly tedious, and way, way, way too long, but for the passionate RPG lover and fan, this game is an enjoyable escapade through many unique enviroments both familiar and strange. The graphics are stunning for the system their on, the music is wonderful, the story is complex and yet you won't get completely lost in all the surprise plot twists. The characters are endearing, delightful and multi-dimensional beings that seem like real people you would know. An interesting invention system allows you to create thousands of items, from armor to weapons and even food. There are new things discovered everytime you play it and different allies to make along the way. If you simply adore RPG's, then give this game a try.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Agentvivi Great for anyone
This game has had a long lasting appeal on me. I wont give anyone any gripe about the storyline on how good or bad it is, you just have to play it and decide that for yourself, everyone has a different perspective. Now unlike other MMO's, this game gives you a lot to do. What I mean by that is this game has a lot of extra content outside of the storyline. It is not one of those games where you just break through the storyline and say, "That was fun." and throw down the controller. You have a lot of outside influence in the game that can alternate the ending or make the means easier to get there. The sound is pretty much like the other star oceans and other rpg's, similar but not quite the same. As far as graphics go and character development, given the time this game came out graphics wise, it is pretty good. The character development is good also, though you will probably not like some of the characters(as I did), the development is still good regardless. I would recommend this game to anyone if they are just willing to spend the first 3-4 hours trying it out since the beginning is slow and you just can't base a opinion about it right away like any other game. Hope whoever else buys this game enjoys it as much as I did. It is well worth the money.
Rated 9 out of 10 by roguejmh888 Great RPG with tons of F.U.N!
This one takes the cake. OMG this game was soooo good! The story was sub par with FF series and Dragon Quest but it took a long time for the story to get moving after a few hours. The gamplay was so good very fun and easy to follow through. The graphics was very nice but I really didn't care for the faces of the characters though. The music was rock and some pop. The only thing that I hate about the sound is I couldn't hear them talk it was to low. Some of voice acting was okay nothing great about it. But this baby has a tons of neat stuff too battle trophies, you can play with a friend too in battle arenas. I tell you pick this one up you won't be like "man I picked up a bad game".
Rated 5 out of 10 by EccentricCanadian Gameplay good, Storyline bad
The other reviews about this game were appalling to read about this game. It makes me wonder whether EB games even played this game to understand how monumentally off base the storyline scores were. And I don't like revealing storyline, but it is the only way you can understand how mind numbing this game's storyline is. It's painful enough to find yet another main character who has as much personality as a cardboard cutout; But, to see this game break the 4th wall as well, it hurts my brain to see good storyline reviews. Right in the beginning you get insight into what kind of person he is when he decides, "hey, lets play a video game instead of going to the beach to see my girlfriend in a bikini", and from then on out you hate him. Garbage storyline aside the gameplay was pretty fun. Even though according to my hard core gaming friend the hard mode boils down into fully exploring maps to get a statue you can sell, and damaging MP instead of using the cooler looking moves. I'm going to be honest about the sound, I don't listen to rpg music nowadays. I would rather listen to my internet radio than listen to yet another classical scored game which doesn't have any exceptionally moving works, so I make a point to turn off any rpg's sound and do just that. Classical music that you can listen to again and again got left behind with games like Chrono Trigger.

I noticed a lot of people complain about the story in Star Ocean but I didn't seem to think that it was lacking or anything. Maybe because it was the first Star Ocean that i've played. I liked the idea of going to the past and being teleported through space to different planets and all that good stuff. I was able to see myself in the main character's shoes. From finding new items and weapons to synthesizing your own in things called workshops. A game guide really helped to find out what makes what and most likely the only means of finding out how to make the really good items. Happy Gaming!
Rated 10 out of 10 by HylianPanda Best Game on the PS2
Star Ocean Till the end of time(Star Ocean 3) is a great addition to a great series with endless replayability. I personally have put in over 500 hours into this game and still haven't unlocked all the extra stuff from challenges and trophies. Great story that never gets old, characters that seem realistic and likable with varied fighting styles, and plenty of content to keep you playing even after you've beaten the the main story. This game is the greatest game on the Ps2 and will always be an amazing jrpg for ANY Jrpg fan this MUST be in you collection
