Rated 10 out of 10 by JTxx12 Another Persona with a new twist!
For all of you RPG fans out there and those that are new to this game, I recommend that you buy this game. This game rocks and everything about it just made me want to play it over and over again. If you ever played Persona 3 (P3) or Persona 3 FES then you will love this game even more. This game brings an exciting storyline about murder and mystery. Not only the storyline is exciting but the gameplay is even better. You will live as a "Persona user" fighting monsters know as shadows in one world called the Midnight channel and you will go to school in the real world meeting and making new friends unlocking new social links. Challenge in this game isn't too difficult if you have played P3 or P3 FES. If you haven't played one of these games then just read a guide or something and you won't have much trouble. The graphics are not bad. All of the graphics in this game are animes. I have nothing else to say except: this is the best game on ps2 that came out recently. Buy it and you'll love it.

"Persona 3" was great. "Persona 3: FES" was even better. Even the earlier PS2 SMT installments "Nocturne" and the 2 "Digital Devil Saga" games were absolutely great. There's no doubt in my mind that "Persona 4" will please fans just as much as the rest of the SMT series has continued to do so, for so many years. Furthermore, I highly suggest picking this up ASAP! As most of the SMT games end up OUT OF PRINT (no longer available) fairly quickly. Also, 1st prints (if a 2nd print is ever made) usually come with extras and are packaged as "Deluxe" or "Special" editions. Such extras are an OST (Original Soundtrack) and or an Art Booklet of the game's artwork (obviously). All of which is extremely limited and will be worth alot once they're fully out of print. And if P4 is anything like P3, it's going to have a GREAT (epic) soundtrack. In the end...get this! Don't miss out on the rare stuff by getting it used. Get it brand new, and don't deprive yourself of not only a great game, but some sweet extras as well.

If you've played Persona 3. Your going to L-O-V-E Persona 4. It takes everything good about P3 and adds on to it, takes all the flaws in P3 and makes it better. With all new Persona, Items, Weapons, and Storyline, P4 could be the best game on the Ps2 this year, and many years after. I've played the imported JP Ver. of P4 and I must say I cannot wait untill P4 is out in ENG. I was blown away with the New Battles and the new Summons. ( No more Envokers! ) You use Tarot cards to summon Persona, which at first I didn't like.. but it grew on me. This time around the S.Links are much better. You can CHOSE to DATE a Girl or just be FRIENDS, and still get the S.Link to Level 10!! Tons of Replay vaule. This game will keep you going for many months. To rate the JP Ver. of this game I'd give it: graphics 9/10 , sound10/10 , storyline10/10, playability10/10, interface8/10, controls9/10, difficulty10/10, play time 10/10Pre-Order and get the AWESOME Art-book to! Trust me, if you get this you will not be disappointed at all.
Rated 0 out of 10 by Akihiko_z A game worth pre-ordering!
With the success of Persona 3 (FES), there was no doubt in my mind that this game would be hitting NA shores. But so soon!? Definitely not a bad thing! New things to expect: New enemy icons, multiple endings, party members can be fully controlled or put on AI, instead of the command "wait" you have "guard", 3 difficulty choices at the beginning of the game, more than 180 Persona; some old but improved looking...and much more that probably everyone knows. SMT games, well the ones I've played don't let down on story and if your looking for a good story to embrace yourself in then Pre-order this pronto! With P3 I remember calling every game store and them saying that they have run out or what not. The only problem I have with it is that the physical damage is all the same. No more Pierce, etc. I thought it made the game harder which I liked. Also the character who is on the sideline is useless during fights. Useless as in you can't use them in battle. Besides these little problems...It's pretty much the only game I'm looking forward to...besides the PS3 FF.
Rated 0 out of 10 Don't disappoint us Atlus
As someone who's actually played more than only Persona 3 or FES in the now SMT line of Atlus games, I'd just like to say that I hope they do the right thing with this new release. By that I mean sticking with and elaborating upon the formula they presented in P3, as most of their other games in said series including Persona predecessors like Eternal Punishment equate to little more than a mindless grind fest. One with an interesting and compelling story but a grind sandwich nonetheless. I think the biggest thing killing RPGs these days is just that. It's all you do anymore, and it's nice to see a company who thinks that maybe, just maybe your success should depend on more than just how many of the same enemy you kill and how often. Despite the fact that they took a pretty big leap backward in The Answer portion of FES by re-implementing that very mentality. Hopefully this will be worth the pre-order, but I say that knowing that if I wait I'll be looking at a ***** to ***** dollar used price tag (assuming I can even find it) since every Atlus game is essentially a limited release.
Rated 0 out of 10 by MGS4freak Wow, I am so happy this is making its way to American shores.
With the absolutely gigantic success of Persona 3 and P3: FES here in the states, I'm not surprised and yet I can't believe it's coming over here so soon after those releases. I have played rpg's for about 20 years now and Persona 3 ranks up there as one of top 3 all-time with FF7 and Xenogears. If you never played Persona 3 and love rpg's then you need to play it right now for its completely unique take on the genre. I can't wait to see what they change in this game, although it would seem they're keeping the best features intact, such as the school relationships and whatnot. The only gripe I would have is that I wish they would change it to a more typical dungeon format and not keep us locked in the same zone the entire game. Nonetheless, the story, characters, battle-system and everything else about the persona series more than make up for that miniscule issue. Thank you atlus!
Rated 10 out of 10 by Deroth Best Shin Megami Tenshi Game
When P3 came out i was in love. i could not stop playing that game. when P3 FES came out i just had to get the game to see the new story. as far as i can see P4 has become something many Persona players could not believe. P4 has become better than P3. This game is a must have with excellent music and a epic storyline. There are funny moments and there are sad moments. you feel like your in the game when you play P4. If your not getting the game for the game play you will be getting it for the soundtrack. Best RPG for 2008 in my opinion. I found myself playing for hours and once i started to play i could not stop. I love the story and this game in my eyes is a ten out of ten. the one thing that i don't think P4 can get a ten on is the controls (just because there the same as the last one) and the Challenge (just because i found it to be easy for me in the normal mode)
Rated 9 out of 10 by Rang One of my favorite games of all time!
I love everything about this game. The storyline is amazing; it offers a lot of depth. The murder mystery theme is carried out very well and there are a lot of great plot twists. Sometimes the story is very dark and other times it's lighthearted and funny. Battles are fun and strategic. Social links are a great way to get to know your party members (and a few others) and watch their progression. I got attached to all the characters, and I enjoyed the life sim aspect of the game as much as the dungeon crawling. The difficulty was challenging at times, sometimes I fought bosses several times before I was able to win, but it just makes winning that much more satisfying. I enjoyed collecting and crafting personas, too. This game has a lot to offer. If I had to talk about some cons, I would say that the battle system can get a bit repetitive at times. Other than that, it's a great game! Graphics are not bad considering it's on the PS2 and anime cutscenes are very stylish. Music is catchy. What's not to love? Buy this game if you are an RPG fan, you'll be doing yourself a huge favor! This game is not to be missed.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Atlus Fan Another Atlus masterpiece
After playing on every difficulty of Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3 I couldn't wait for the next one. Who ever came up with the ideal of Persona is a genius. This game will get addicting and you may even want to play it again. The second time around try normal mode and concentrate on maxing out the social links. Persona 4 could have been a little longer. I recommend concentrating on the social links instead of fishing like I did. The graphics like most Atlus games are great especially concidering that it's on Play Station 2. I really liked the bonus disc containing Persona 4's soundtrack. I would recommend getting the game guide or using gamefaqs walkthrough. It will make the game that much easier and if you are like me and want to unlock all the Persona then you will need them. I hope they make a Persona 5 and make it for Play Station 3.
