Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
It is an awesome game to play if you have just came from persona 3 FES. It be a must buy for all fans.
Possibly the best JRPG ever made
I thought Persona was just your run of the mill, rip off of Final Fantasy cashcow until I actually played some games from the series. Boy, was I wrong. There was really nothing about this game for me to hate. I loved the gameplay because it was turn-based through a command window. The soundtrack was amazing as well. You'd think lyrics wouldn't be good in a game OST, but you'd be wrong. The graphics were excellent. For a PS2 game, the graphics were done very well. After a first playthrough, the game gets a little dull since you know the entire story, but there is some replay value with a New Game Plus. You get to keep all your Personas and Yen from the last playthrough. Personas are mythical beings which aid you and your allies in battle. You have to fight your ally's shadows before they can battle, though. The protagonist can change personas in battle, while your allies can only have one, or two, depending on if you evolve their personas or not, which you would have to do a social link with said ally for their persona to evolve. The social links provide backstory for your allies, and throughout the social link you gain items or battle boosts, such as them being able to take a hit for you in battle if you're close to death. If you can find this game anywhere, pick it up, it's pretty amazing. If you liked it, try the other games in the series, such as Persona 3 FES or Shin Megami Tensei IV. The Golden version of this game for PS Vita (probably the only reason to get a Vita at this point) is a much better version, so if you can afford a Vita for it, get it.
Great RPG For Most Gamers
This Game is purely Great! The Graphics are pretty astounding for a PS2! Also the Gameplay never ends you build Social Links (Friendships) with tons of COMS also you goto school , and meet new people , fight demons , go into caves n explore , walk around town doing tasks , level up in varieties , also you ask questions and answer in school and anywhere else , its a great RPG i suggest getting tbjs i definetly suggest getting it if youre into RPG but im sure that you'll love it either way!
For all of the JRPG fiends....start cluckin
This game is awesome! Personally I'm a fan of all the SMT games to come out over the last 15 years or so. But this one is one of my favorites. Not as dark as Persona 3. I do miss the Evokers though. The kids in this one dont seem as emo as in 3 but there is still a creepiness about them. And dont get me started on the pedo-esque bear in tv land. The storyline is great and the dungeon crawling aspects seem a little more fluid than in previous entries. Don't expect a 7-10 hour quick run, this game requires some time vested. All in all its a great demonic JRPG and in my opinion a MUST HAVE for any PS2 owner. It's even worth buying a PS2 just to play this game.
I loved it!
At frist, when I had started to play this, I thought it would be super difficult like P3. But it really wasn't. And I was really happy about this, the battles were amazing. The bosses were kind of difficult, but they're supposed to be! I loved playing it the first time round, the second time round it gets kinda boring. But overall I love it. I still play this game every now and again. I wouldn't return it or get rid of it or part with it for any reason what so ever! If you really love the story lines of the games then this game is ABSOLUTELY perfect for you.
The Persona Series Elevates To New Heights
Altus, what can I say? You are a bunch of geniuses who are able to produce spectacular games! It still perplexes me how you are able to accomplish such feats. Persona 4 is flawless in every way and, just like in P3, you will be taken to Inaba and you won't want to leave. I am in love with this game just as I am with the other marvels of the Persona series. I may even venter to say that this series may be one of the best RPG series of all time. I just can't express in words how much pleasure, happiness, joy, etc. these games bring me. You. Must. Play. Now. Persona 4 is a spectacle.
This game is perfect for people who need an extended break from hard work or just as a game that will keep you interested for around a month if you try to get every persona.
Great game buuuut....
Oi. Why is the preowned more than the new? This game has been out forever! Lower the preowned price for the new price or get out. XD
I love this game to death! It has everything you would really want for in a game fighting, mystery, comedy, and a little romance. This game always leaves you guessing every time you play it. I'm so addicted to it that its all I think about when I'm working or just out doing something else and most games doesn't do that to me. My ps2 broke and I was going to wait to get a new version of the ps3 but for this game i'm buying another ps2 first.
A must-have for any RPG fan
I'll make this brief because I just typed this really long, masterpiece of a review and my browser back-paged me and killed the whole thing for no apparent reason. Atypical RPG following a high-school kid through a year at a new school going day-by-day through the calendar. You go to school, join (or not) clubs and sports, take the occasional test, get a part-time job (or not), eat really spicy food to test your courage.... the mundane stuff such as this is kept fun and actually relevant to the game and it's progression. The graphics, especially on the aging PS2, are amazing and are only topped by the music. An eclectic mix of JPop, rock, wierd genre-less stuff... it all sounds great and goes great with the game. My copy included the soundtrack and I've advise you to look around and make sure yours does too.... just absolutely great music. I don't want to give ANY spoilers about the game so just take this away from this review: If you like in-depth RPGs that last a long, long time, are willing to play an outside-the-box kind of game, and either like or are willing to tolerate anime and anime-ish type things you will most likely enjoy this game. I sure did and I'm now in the process of trying to pick up the other Shin Megami Tensei games due to how amazing this one was.
