Amazing
Another great game with an amazing story. The characters are very likable. The controls are as good as it gets for the Ps2. Your actions decide what ending you get.

One Great RPG
I first purchased and played Shadow Hearts in 2001 I was amazed. I recently played the game again and still found it as exciting as the first time that I played it. I am a die-hard RPG fan and enjoy the Final Fantasy series immensely. Shadow Hearts gives Final Fantasy a run for its money and is one of the best RPG games ever made. The judgement ring is an innovative system that determines the outcome of battles and other important actions. The story line is captivating. The characters are intriguing and well-rounded, and the music is enthralling. The fact that the protagonist must confront demons in the graveyard to maintain his sanity is novel. Although this is a sequel to Koudelka (PSOne, 1999), this game stands on its own merit and is challenging and compelling. RPG gamers will find this game stimulating enough to keep them absorbed and thoroughly entertained.

One of the best rpgs ever!!!!!
The storyline is amazing. The characters enthrall. The graphics are quite good for the time. The game play is unique. The musical score is wonderful. I bought this game when it first was released in 2001 and enjoyed it very much. I was sorry when I finished it. Recently I played it again and it was just as entertaining as when I first did so. This game is slated for a more mature gamer, who is not only entertained by the battles but also finds puzzle solving just as enjoyable. The Judgment Ring gives a new height to game play since it is not only used in battles but also in shops and some plot events. The Graveyard is an original twist and plays a big part in the protagonist's fusion ability. It also is where the protagonist maintains his sanity. The path you choose determines the outcome of the game. Although this game is a follow-up to PS One's Koudelka, this story stands alone. This game is hard to find and very seldom comes up for sale. If you see it, grab it up. This game is definitely a keeper.

Best RPG I've played
If you love extensive role-playing games this ones for you! The game opens with an amazing video clip and holds your attention right to the tragic end. The hero, a surly youth named Yuri, rescues the heroine (Alice Elliot) against his better judgment (he thinks). This is just the start of an enthralling and extensive journey that takes you through WWI era Japan and Europe. Yuri discovers more of his latent talent, he's a Harmonixer, he can fuse with demon spirits and transform into them. You'll have to trust me this is really cool! He has a fusion for each element (dark, light, fire, water, earth, & wind) plus one special non-class fusion (hard to get but so worth it) 7 total. Along your path you meet many interesting allies each with their own elemental alignment and special abilities. Each monster you face is incredibly unique and detailed, they each have their own elemental alignment. For your battles you will use the judgment ring to attack, this has to be the best battle system I have used in a long time. The judgment ring has four different types and each is fully customizable, you can change it any time you like. I could keep going on about this game, but bottom line it rocks! It is a little hard to find so if you see it get it you will find yourself replaying it many times. FYI this is the first in a series and the entire series does not disappoint, you will love to see how some of the characters progress.

Great RPG
Shadow Hearts has got to be by far one of the greatest RPG's ever made. Every character no matter how annoying they are end up being likable. The story is so unique and interesting you will be on the edge of your seat waiting to see how it ends. It puts and interesting spin on your turn based RPG's by using what is called the Judgement Ring. The game also starts out with a cool cinema, the graphics are amazing. Each character has his or her own unique skill for example main character YurI have a Fusion ability where he can transform into a monster and use there abilities. What also makes this unique is unlike most RPG's it takes place on earth in what is called and Secret history or Alternate history. If you are looking for and awesome RPG then this game is definitely worth it.

ABSOLUTELY BLEW ME AWAY
Talk about an RPG that I went into not really expecting much and it turns out to be one of the best that I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing! Shadow Hearts was incredible from the very beginning all the way to the heart breaking end. You play as Yuri, a boy who has the ability to gain the powers of different monsters and change into them when in battle. You’re up against protagonist Roger Bacon, a mysterious man who kidnaps a young girl named Alice who holds the power that Bacon needs to reshape the world as he sees fit. I can't really go more into the story but it’s definitely one of the most interesting, funny, and original in any RPG that I’ve played. The battle system is also very cool. When you fight you get the Judgment Ring where you have to press the X button at certain times for you to make your attacks hit at full effect. It’s awesome and a very unique twist to your typical battle systems found in most RPG's. My one and only negative to this phenomenal RPG is that it’s pretty short. I beat it in about 25 hours, but other than that it’s an absolute gem. Seriously, play this fantastic RPG if you can. In my own humble opinion, the Shadow Heart series is right up there with Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda. I pray that they continue this series.
