Rated 8 out of 10 by Neosamuel Difficult to work, but still fun.
This sort of game is best suited to PCs, but sence the consols are the only ones with 3D RPG Makers this is the best your going to get. It takes a long time to figure out how to work it, even harder when you try to change the combat system. Also the lack of online means that few will ever see your creations. The games soundtrack is top-notch and the graphics are a nice throwback to old PS1 3D legends like Final Fantasy 7. However due to the dificulty of the maker I can only recomend this to hardcore RPG designers.

This game is too good to be describe in words! Buy this instead of going to any stupid 'game making" websites. Those just let you edit games, not make your own. Basically, if you buy this game you have your own game making facility in your room!

RPG Maker II is a great game for any future programmers, or people who just like to create. It is the ultimate tool for making your very own RPG, providing you with examples and in-game help so you can start creating right away! In RPG Maker II, pretty much anything is possible. I've seen tons of different games created that weren't even RPG's, such as Tank Wars, Checkers, and some strategy battle games. Even if you have no prior experience creating any type of game, you can start out with beginner mode which provides you with many resources, available for you to edit to your liking. One thing I like about this game is the large library of graphics. With over 100 character models to choose from, and complete color customization, there are literally millions of different combinations of characters for you to make. The game also includes a great building editor, which provides you with tons of different textures and different shaped blocks, so it is possible to create any type of building, from a small house, to a huge castle! Another thing to think about before purchasing RPG Maker II is whether or not you will actually have time for it. When I first bought it, the cashier who served me told me it would most likely take me 2 to 3 months to finish a game. Turns out, he was right! You have to design almost everything from scratch, like your storyline, all your characters, items, enemies, cities, buildings, etc. Also, it consumes a lot of space on your memory card. One save file takes up 2271 KB, which is more than 1/4th of the space a standard memory card provides. For a truly epic game, you will need a whole memory card dedicated to RPG Maker II. Last, but not least, is that you should consider buying a Logitech USB Keyboard for your PlayStation2, because you WILL be typing a lot. You have to input everything, such as names for everything, descriptions of things, and messages for people to say. Putting in all this information is very time-consuming on a regular PlayStation2 controller. Buying a keyboard cut down the process of me making a game by almost a week! For anyone who has ever dreamed of "the perfect game" and wanted to design it, I would definitely reccomend RPG Maker II. Overall, I rate this game a 9/10. (I rated storyline 10, but if you buy this game you will be making your own storyline, so that is not applicable.)
