Rated 5 out of 10 by Capcomfan2010 Not as good as the Original!
I like Onimusha a lot almost as much as I like Devil May Cry, however this Onimusha in my opinion is not the best in fact I hate it because it strays away from what made the originals so great (that being a horror action/ hisorical fiction game) and it seems like Capcom was trying to make this into a Devil May Cry game with a more Anime feel to it. Though I did like that the game was long I felt like that was trying to give you a compelling story. I don't normally use graphics as an excuse but man the graphics in this game suck, compared to the original three you can see that the originals were a lot smoother even though they were a bit blockey, in this game they seem like they were ripped from Kingdom Hearts or something. Overall I didn't like this but I will be fair and say that you may like this title for just about everything Capcom has to offer here.
Rated 10 out of 10 by jokericon00 Onimusha is an amazing series!
Introduction: Certain series cannot sustain the momentum to keep creating great games, However the Onimusha franchise keeps delivering hits! Pros: This game was amazing! Everything about it was done correctly and I love the character development and how he achieve special powers that are needed to fight the final boss. I thought the level of difficulty was amazing and the characters had so much personality that it made the game fun. The graphics were beautiful especially the Cherry Tree Blossoms. The story captures you and the game gives you enough missions to help you on your journey and I am happy to have played a game like Onimusha. I have played all 5 series and I cannot wait until they make Onimusha 5. Cons: Games like this keeps bringing on certain excellence that cannot be touched! Overall: I played all 5 Onimusha and each one was amazing with beautiful graphics, amazing stories, and amazing character development. I love when games are created to perfection and Onimusha keeps you interested throughout the entire game. The best of the series of course is Dawn of Dreams and I am expecting the next installment to be even better!

A great hack and slash game. i has increasingly difficult puzzle along the way. alot of great boss fights. you get to cut down a variety of enimies from genma pawns to ogre type beast. this game has weapons galore. from katanas to giant broad swords like excaliber to single shot guns ,staves ,metal gloves. five differnt characters fighting for different reasons but all sharing one single goal to save the planet from the arrival of the genma lord. after you beat the game you can play arena mode which isnt that great but OK. this game has some comedy, puzzle, romance, fighting, and above all a lot of action.along the way each character discovers ther oni power which make almost unbeatable to any enimie except for bosses. each weapon has its own special attack that you can charge for more power.i highly recomend this game.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Centos Onimusha:Dawn of Dreams, Thank you Capcom
This game was amazing I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys awesome graphics, incredible storylines, and an amazing game overall. There's no other way to explain it but; Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams is in my top 3 favorite games (I have a Wii, Xbox360, Ps3, Gamecube, DS, and a Ps2). This is a very long game for the price it's worth the trip to the store, I never got annoyed by the music like I usually always do, I played through the game on all of the difficulties the challenge was excellent every time, this game also has a very good replay value. As stated in the headline, Thank you Capcom! This game is great to me because you have to take the time to level your armor and weapons ect. This game never gets old once you get into the story you wont be able to stop playing, so get a comfy chair and enjoy. : )
Rated 10 out of 10 by uberkewl19 MUST BUY!
This game is one to own for all ps2 owners. I don't know if i want to consider this my favorite onimusha game because 2 is my favorite. In fact all the onimusha games are great except for Onimusha Blade Warriors which is a rip off of Smash Bros. Great aspects of this game is it has RPG elements in it that make the game play nice. You can go back to previous places in the game if you missed any items that are important for your characters. Not only that, but the story is long and that's why its consists of 2 disc. You don't need to play previous Onimusha games to understand the story, since this game is fresh with a whole set of new characters that make this game a gem. The down side of this game to me was NOTHING! But if I want to be seen picky, it would be the voice acting. THIS IS A MUST HAVE GAME!

Not a bad game, but I didn't like it quite as much as the previous Onimusha games. Onimusha Dawn of Dreams reminds me of Sengoku BASARA mixed with RPG elements like Final Fantasy. Replay is high, because you can travel to previous levels as the other characters. Voice acting could have been better, English acting wasn't too bad for the most part, and I was disappointed with the Japanese acting.Graphics are good, and I love the cinema scenes. :D
Overall, I still love the game because hack and slash action adventure is my favorite genre!
Rated 10 out of 10 by thephantomofangel19 it was awesome with one exception
it was awesome except for the fact that the difficulty was simply difficult lol
i liked having a challenge but the difficulty level could have been easier but i found that there was a easy mode i only found that out while playing onimusha warlords. lol so i know there will be a easy mode hidden in this game too.
