This game was the it when I was little. Oh my gosh, if you are wanting to back in time in video games this is it. This game will have you're heart racing, and towards the end of the game slightly raging, but it is amazing. Me and my brother used to play this game all the time with eachother on multiplayer and it was so fun. Great game to everybody and fun for kids.
P.S. I am now 16 and still play it ever now and then.

This is a must get for any racing fan or even someone who just wants to try it out. This was my first racing game back in 2004 and even though it was made 2 years earlier it was just was a blast. The cops are amazing in this game and they go for anyone in the race. There is cars from Lotus Elise to Ferrari 360 Spider to Corvette Z06 to Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 VT. The track list is amazing and I would recommend this game no matter what. Get this game if you have a PS2, Xbox, or GameCube (exception- Wii plays GameCube games). I will give this game a 10 out of 10 because the challenge is magnificent, the graphics are amazing, and the cars are awesome. The only thing this game does not have though is customizable car items. Like it doesn't have rims, or like body kits. Just paint. Paint for the car. It does have a NFS version for almost all of the cars and those sometimes are a beauty. The McLaren F1 and the Ferrari 360 Spider probably have the best Need for Speed version. Get this game first against any other game if you have these systems. You can get this game for a cheap price now too.
Rated 10 out of 10 by BeforeDKing GREATEST NFS GAME PRODUCED YET!
As soon as I saw the trailers for this game back october 2002, I just knew I had to have a copy. When it came out I rented it and played everyday for 2 weeks. To me, this is the epiphany of all racing games. NFS titles before this was great. I do believe EA stepped it up with this game. Its the last game in the series to feature super cars on extraordinary tracks without customization involved. Its truly a classic, and deserves the right to be played by any car enthusiast. Also i must say the tracks on this game are incredible being that this game was produced for ps2 in 2002, and its graphics can still hold up to todays seventh generation platforms. There are many race modes to choose from in this game and 49 different cars to race with. Multiplayer comes with great gratitude. If this isnt enough for you like the game, just let me know because i dont believe there is a game better.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Capcomfan2010 Remember when Need for Speed Was Good?
I used to play this when I was a little kid a lot, so it brings back a lot of memories. The thing I like about this game is that you are able to unlock so many cars, there's a champion based mode and hot pursuit mode which help you unlock more race courses and cars like I said earlier. I like playing with cops on you and all that it makes races a lot more challenging. What I dislike about newer Need for Speed games is that they don't really feel as great as this game or Underground 2 (Undercover was good only because it felt like Underground 2 and Hot Pursuit 2) and you know you think that EA would try to make the ones as good as this one but they're like most game companies focusing on just graphic and their top sellers (for instance EA with Battle Field, not that I have anything against that franchise I would just rather see EA go back to the good old days)

The first NFS: Hot Pursuit game was good, but the second one was amazing! I bought this game the day it came out, and every time when my friends come over, we always pop it in and have a ton of fun! This game has a very good challenge when it comes to cops, and your opponents are even tougher. You have to unlock every single car in the game, which has over 70 different cars. EA also put their own kind of cars, and you can unlock the "NFS" edition of almost every single car. The tracks are very diverse, having different obstacles and tons of shortcuts. There are even shortcuts in shortcuts! Even though the cops are harder in Most Wanted and Carbon, the cops do put up a good fight. The only question I have, why did EA not allow you to customize your cars?

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 is one of the PS2 games I've had the longest, and yet, its never gotten old. Now, I for one am not a big racing game fan, but, I still love this game. The graphics are amazing for this game, based on the fact that its a few years old (but even so they're amazing), and the controls are about as simple as it gets, though there are a few extra buttons, but you hardly ever need to use them. The sound effects are very realistic, in my opinion, and the track variety is astounding. I love all of the tracks they put on this game. The vehicle customization is pretty much obsolete (you can change the car's color), but that doesn't matter because the vehicle variety makes up for it. The game is a little too challenging for me when It comes to playing the world racing mode, but I usually just play the hot pursuit mode with other people, so I almost always avoiding the world racing mode altogether. Pretty much, this game is amazing. If you are a racing fan, get this game for sure, unless you hate cops-chasing-you games. If you are like me, and could take or leave racing games, I probably would still buy this game if you can find it. So, basically, this is the perfect game, unless of course you hate racing games.

This will probably be one of of the only games I'll give all 10/10's to. This was all I played on the PS2, and I played it for YEARS to come. My PS2 is now starting to collect some dust behind my fairly new Xbox 360, but I'll probably plug in my PS2 to play this from time to time. The graphics were STUNNING for a 2002 game, and they are still impressive to this date (at least on the PS2 version). I wish there were more Need for Speeds' like this: split screen, quick race mode, and a long career mode. If you haven't stepped into the next generation yet, then this is a must buy.
Rated 8 out of 10 by DeltaBravo Awesome Game
One great NFS classic, very fun but events tend to be very long at times so when you fail you will probably take a break from playing, and the laq of drifting makes the game seem more of a game you will find at an arcade. This game has lots of classic cars like the lamborghini Diablo, The amazing Mclaren F1, and Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR. Overall its a forgiving game since it was released in 2002
Rated 10 out of 10 by sonic702 Best NFS game of all time!
This game is Awesome! from the cars, Maps, etc.... I love everything about this game it's a classic, I'm not really into the new NFS games out there with the whole Customization thing, the only one i kinda like is Carbon. All I want is Expensive cars to race not to customize and try to make them pretty. I totally recommend this game of everyone even if its old. If your into the whole Customization thing, then you will be disappointed.

I have had this game for about two months and i really like it all the modes are really fun the You're the cop mode is really fun the trick to getting more time is to catch one of the speeders once you get one of them captured the time will got back to 150 I usually get all the speeders the level of difficulty I play in is beginner.I haven't tried the advanced level yet I have unlocked some new cars overall this is a great game.
