NCAA Football 2009
Better than ever
NCAA 09 is truly a gamers dream. With modes such as Campus Legend, Mascot challenge, and Dynasty, NCAA 09 takes the level of sports gaming to all new standards. Typically a Madden guy myself, I purchased this game hoping to find a new experience in the world of Sports gaming. Not only do the announcers interact just as they do in real life, but they even recall previous games from previous years, and whats realer than the announcers, is the in game performance. From the bone crushing tackles to the one handed catches, NCAA 09 is as real as it gets. Also, The skill setting for this game, more than challenges those who think they're the next Reggie Bush, and loosens up on those less talented. I recommend this game to be a perfect 10 out of 10 due to its crystal clear graphics, dynamic game play, and terrific game modes. Although this is my first NCAA game, i will definitely be buying NCAA 2010 next year, and this game has even made me want to pay more attention to the TV on (Game Day) Saturday. This truly is a must have for the holiday season.
Excellent game, but....
It's the EXACT same game as last year. There are a few new tackling animations, but that's about it. I'm still on PS2 so I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, but it's pretty much the same game as '08 with updated rosters. And speaking of which, the rosters aren't even all that updated. Ryan Mallet transferred to Arkansas from Michigan in January....why is he still the starting QB for Michigan on the game? It's really not that big of a deal, but I'm just sayin'. And as far as the gameplay, there are pros and cons. PRO: It's a little more difficult to run the ball this year. Which is a good thing, because I got tired of my RB rushing for 2500 yards a season in previous years. So it's a little more realistic. CON: Way too many dropped balls. I'd say my receivers drop 4-5 balls a game. One game my QB went 18-24 passing, but 4 of the incompletions were drops! Very frustrating. And not just one guy...all of them. Other than that, lots of fun and of course only $** on the PS2.
all in all its a great game for the ps2.
I think the one mistake people make in their reviews is comparing it to the 360 or ps3 versions.it truly is a good game.i spent countless hours on it and it was a blast.it is a good game for the PLAYSTATION 2!a review is how good the game did for its platform.while the graphics werent the best out there it was good for the ps2.i spent countless hours making campus legends on it then i discoverd dynasty..oh boy that was the best 15 dollars spent in my life at that point.the rosters i could name all the historic teams the fun overall...now the music...this goes for ALL ncaa 09 ftb games.the sound is only fight songs and its been that way scines 07.....thats a problem but not huge.12 will probably be the last release for the ps2 but it was good game that judging by the average scores, didnt recieve enough credit.
Why do i see other people saying that NCAA 09 is exactly the same as NCAA 08.....well if you have a PS2 DUHHHHHH its going to be the same. They aren't going to make NCAA 09 better for PS2 then people wouldn't buy a PS3.If you have a PS3 the game is entirely different and the new celebrations are amazing! If you love the excitement of college football you will love this game. Oh yeah, whats up with Georgia being ranked number one? I will understand if Florida was number one because big Tim Tebow is going to score 40 points every game by himself for the 2nd straight season, but GEORGIA?! You gotta be kiddin' me. Matthew Stafford is no match to Tim Tebow and if Ryan Perillioux was still at LSU we would go back-to-back. But really people jump off the Georgia bandwagon becuase it ain't going far.
I am a big fan of the NCAA games. I buy it every year, but this year I feel it was a waste of money and time. The d-lineman fly right through the o-line untouched and tackle the qb while he is either dropping back or getting ready to hand the ball off. It is also unbelievable how easily the backs break tackles. The receivers also fumble way too easily. I don't understand why PS2 gets the same old every year but the too expensive PS3 gets sweet new features and good gameplay. Some good features are the new tackling system and it is starting to be slightly more realistic, but I feel like the game makers just gave up since the new console is out and I don't think that is right. Can we get a good college ballgame around here? But the game is still fun against a friend, but some of the glitches and superhuman players make me mad.
It is Ok.
When I first got this game, I was so excited because I heard about all the new stuff that the game was supossed to have. I got home, poped in the game, waited for it to load, then I saw that it was almost the exact same thing as NCAA 08. There were a few new features though. Well I really wouldnt call them features but they are different from NCAA 08. The Campus Ledgend Mode is a lot tougher this time around. In games past I was able to be hiesman every year for all four years. Now im in my Junior year and havnt even to being close. The Dynasty mode has gotten a lot crisper with making plays as a coach and not a player, this means you can still participate in all the games just like in all of them, but you can also get a coaches view. My opinion of this game in its entirety is a 8.
i think NCAA 2009 is going to be cool b/c fo graphics and gameplay. I do wish though that they would put in all college football divisions though ex: Grand Valley State, Findlay, and teams like that
Three cheers for ncaa football!!
This game is gonna be good. I can't wait to play this. The grapics, gameplay and various modes should be a lot of fun. I'm especially looking forward to campus legend mode.
The game is very similar to 08, but clearly better, updated roster and star players are more accurate, the top 25 in the game, i beleive is fairly accurate, NCAA 09 much better than 08, the graphics and the music are the same though, on the ps2 version the commentary really isn't different, and they also had some new features on dynasty mode, like strongest conferences and strongest schedules, the challenge of dynasty mode is a little bit tougher, because if you beat a team not very good by say 50, and somebody else behind you in the polls wins a close rivalry game, and you're still undefeated, you can fall 1-3 spots in the BCS Rankings. This game though is definitely better than NCAA Football 08. NCAA Football 09: 9/10 GO OKLAHOMA SOONERS
Game disc makes great coaster!
I played this game at a friend's house, after not having played NCAA Football since the 07 version. For the first four hours of gameplay, when the game still worked, I was in football gaming heaven. On initial insertion of the game disc, the system downloads the latest patches and updates. On a broadband DSL connection, this download takes a few short moments. Then the action starts! Aside from the hideous cover art (Matt Ryan - I'm sure he's a good guy, but he beat my team 3 years in a row, so, sorry, dude), the artwork and animations are incredible. The menus are well organized, I had no problems starting my dynasty right away. I played the first three games, which were very incredible. Despite the fact that my team was highly ranked in the preseason, the fact that I was blowing away my opponents, after not having played a football game since 2006, probably means that the difficulty by default is too easy. I mean, when I tackle, I just push a bunch of random buttons, I have no idea which button tries to strip, which one dives, etc, yet I was smoking each team in succession. For the fourth game, I decided to rename a couple of key players, just the stars, so I wouldn't have to make number-to-player associations in my head. That's when my problems started. Apparently, for months, there has been a well-known issue with this game (except by me, because I don't go around reading game web site articles and forums, because I have a job an a family), where editing the player rosters make the game freeze during gameplay. Worse, once you encounter this bug, you can't get away from it. I know, because I followed the "fix" instruction's on the EA web site, which had no effect on gameplay. Customer service hasn't been interested enough in my problem, having already gotten my $edit, to help me resolve the issue, so I can't really say how good the game is, because I can't play it. It'll make an effective and pretty coaster, though, with the game disc being over 5 inches in diameter, I bet I could use it to protect my coffee table from a hot bowl of soup, even. I would not recommend this game, solely based on the fact that my issue is unresolved, and EA customer service will not talk to me, they only email me text from the self-help web site. I can't tell you how many times I've erased my game data as suggested, cleaned the disc, and not edited the player rosters in the last week, hoping that *this* time, it would resolve my issue. Spend your money on something better.
