MotorStorm: Arctic Edge
good racing game
not the best off road racing game i've played,i bought this game christmas and i was very satisfied. The graphics are great, the controls are a challenge at first(if you're used to playing racing games like Gran Turismo,DT racer etc.)but after a day or so you will get the hang of it.It's very detail also and the idea of being able to cause an avalanche by blowing the horn is amazing though it seems avalanches can only be triggered in specific places.Custimization could be better though.you can customize them with paint jobs, different lights, objects on the back of it,patterns. They have different classes including snow cat, snow machine(which are all snow mobiles),rally car,and snow plugger(what ever that is!).The game is a challenge because theres always something that you might do wrong like go the wrong way or crash.Just like the motorstorm on the PS3!
Best racing series ever.
I have to admit that this title for PS3 not so good with other competition. But PS2 barely has any competition. And this game really is perfect for the PS2 as it extends the graphics to the PS3 level. I remember selling out my PS2 games as PS3 games came in. But this was a suprise. As it brings memories back to buy games, and this looks great in graphics wise. Any one who has a PS2 in their closet hidden take it out, for this legend in racing: MOTORSTORM!
The Last Great PS2 Racer?
This PS2 port of "Motorstorm: Arctic Edge" took me by surprise. It's every bit as fun as the PSP version and the PS3 Motorstorms. Obviously, the graphics are nowhere near as detailed as it's PS3 counterparts...but "Arctic Edge" manages to rock the PS2 processor rather well. As indicated by the title, it transplants the mechanics from the last two Motorstorms into a winter climate setting. To go along with the entirely new tracks, there are 3 new vehicle variations: Snow Machine (a nimble snow mobile), Snow Plugger (the ice-going equivalent of the Mud Plugger), and Snow Cat (a huge plow with treads). As for the music...it's your standard Motorstorm pop-rock stuff, but it does the job. My only complaint with "Arctic Edge" is the same one I have with the other Motorstorms: After you get about half-way through the campaign mode, it gets ridiculously difficult. You have to run a flawless line through the courses while constantly maxing out your nitrous to have any hope of keeping up with the CPU. Add that to the already unforgiving terrain collision system, and you've got a recipe for frustration. "Arctic Edge" is still an excellent off-road racer, though...especially with friends. If you want to get a little more mileage out of your PS2, look no further.
This Game Is Great!!!
If you love motorstorm don't forget about this one! This is a GREAT port!!! This is my favorite motor storm!! Even if you think its not worth going back to ps2 you just have to try this last great racing game for one great system!
