Rated 10 out of 10 by Western Wolf Shaolin monks is one of the best mortal kombat games
This game is awesome lots of cool and deadly fatalities. With three upgradeable special moves lots of characters like scorpion, subzero, reptile and others. You can play story mode in co-op with lui-kang, kung lao, and when you're finished you can play story mode with sub-zero or scorpion. There is cool death traps. Many bosses like baraka reptile shen-sun and shaokan. If you like bloody and gory games this is the best. You can also play a demo of mortal kombat 2 and the suffering. There are a lot of secrets in the game to make it challenging. I give this game 11 thumbs up. Oh yeah I forgot you can use awesome weapons and throw them at monsters so the sword will get stuck and soon die faster. When I play I use kung lao cause he a has cool air combos like when you jump you can kick the enemy 10 times, but also is lui kang cause he gets very long combos with bicycle kicks. There is also versus mode, so you can fight your partner. Story mode can be played by free play cause you can choose any portal you want when you pass a mission. I hope you like the game.
Rated 9 out of 10 by medinagamer63 A Great Co-Op Mortal Kombat Game
This is an awesome co-op game. This game has a co-op campaign, which can be played with a friend, or by yourself, but trust me, it is so much fun brutalizing enemies with a buddy. This game on it's own will last you about 6-8 hours, which is more than enough for any MK fan like myself. The game does not merely have hack and slash gameplay either. It has the original MK fighting mechanics in the game, as you can fight series staples like Reptile, as you would do in other MK fighters with these mechanics. Although, it isn't merely as polished as the other MK fighting games before it, it is still very fun, and this mode can also be played against a friend. If you LOVE MK, and co-op play, get Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks today!
Rated 9 out of 10 by ToastyMan Mortal Kombat: Beat em' up? Flawless Victory!
This game is a required addition to anyone's PS2 library. The game bridges the classic Mortal Kombat I & II games with a story centered on Liu Kang and Kung Lao. As the shaolin monks you travel all the familiar locations of the original MK games and fighting many familiar faces with a tireless combo system, gaining experience to unlock new moves, new fatalities and skills.
As a 3D beat em' up, this game works unlike any other. You simply don't get bored of playing it. Even pounding redundant enemies is fun because of all the unique ways to kill them, and every victory has it's value. This is candy for the avid MK fan, but a total blast of fun for gamers loyal to the action/fighting genre.
Rated 10 out of 10 by warrior of soul calibur Mortal Kombat like never before.
Mortal kombat has gone in a new direction with shaolin monks. This game is an adventure that goes deep in the heart of the mortal kombat world. The story mainly revolves around Liu Kang and Kung Lao. The Kombat in this game is all direction so your opponent can be a lot sneakier and vice versa. There are also weapons that may be used through out the game. And of course mortal combat is not mortal combat without the following ingredients blood, fatality, brutality, multality and finally blood. However, like always there is a comical side to some fatalities. Kung Lao has many of those. He mainly either beats his opponent to death with a bunny or the bunny chews out his opponent’s throat either way you are going to laugh. The multiplayer has 8 characters to fight with in versus and 4 for ko-op. The sound is pretty good and the screams of fatality sound “Superb”. The graphics are good but the blood is nothing you want your kids to see. There are excellent boss battles in this game you get to fight Shang Tsung, Baraka, goro, Reptile, kintaro, the three femme fatales Kitana jade Mileena and Shao kahn. There is the unlockable Mortal Kombat II witch is very fun. One thing that the game is missing is ko-op fatalities. The special moves in the game are the same as always. Scorpion’s “get over here.” Sub-zero’s freeze. You get the idea. The specials are upgradeable. So if you like taking a blood bath then this is the game for you.

Everything was perfect this is truly a Midway Gold Game. Once again the story may seem a lot familiar and so are the characters but they just look slightly different. Fatalities, Multalities, and even Brutalitites Who wouldn't stick around for this Konquest to defeating and brutally finishing off every major bosses that you come by in this game i'd say go for it!
