by Homefrontfan42 This game is awesome!
After playing Medal of Honor Rising Sun, I was in love the game. It changed the way I looked at WW2.

This is an okay game that does some things well but it also does a lot of things wrong. I'll start with the good things. One good thing is that the were great for its time. The game is fairly lengthy and the sound is good. The game starts in Pearl Harbor and ends with you sinking a carrier ship. Usually you'll be fighting in a Jungle in Asia but you also fight in Pearl Harbor, a town and Singapore. Now to the bad things. For one thing the enemy AI sucks. Sometimes it's so dumb that when you're walking right past them they sit there and do nothing, and rarely they commit suicide. The story so bad its laughable. You don"t find out much about the character you play as. Basically all the story is you're a Marine in WW2 fighting Japanese. But please understand that when I say story I mean personal story. When of the major flaws is that the shooting mechanics dont work well. But considering that the game is cheap I would consider it.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Games reviewer It's very good
this is a excellent first person shooter game and most likely who ever playes this game will like it. The graphics in the game are not insanly awesome but good enough. the length is long but could have been longer. If you have played the other games in metal of honor franchise then you will like this game alot. But if you are new to the series then i would recommened you look some where else. the controls of the game are very easy and the sound is too. the game starts in pearl harbor. You will mostly be fighting in the jungle but you will also be going to singapoar and you will also be fighting in pearl harbor which was very fun. I would recommend this game to every one but as I said before if you are new to this series you should look some where else but I don't mean you shouldn't buy it if you are new. Anyway this game is a must owner.

This game, Medal of Honor Rising Sun was a good game. It was very similar to Medal of Honor Frontline. There were the same graphics and some of the same weapons. The weapons that were from Medal of Honor Frontline were a bit different. The Thompson wasn't as awesome, the Springfield didn't sound as realistic as the one in Frontline. There were A few Japanese weapons and one British weapon, The Sten. My favorite Japanese weapon in the game was the Type 99 and the Welrod. I don't really know if the Welrod was a Jap pistol but anyway, I really liked it. I liked how there was multiplayer in this game. The thing that just didn't make sense to me is how a few bullets of a Thompson or M1 Grande would make a plane blow up. The champain was a lot shorter, which surprised me. Anyway, I liked this game and i give this game an 8 out of 10.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Medal of Honor fan best game of 2004!
I can't believe how good this game is for it's time. Personally, I thought this game would suck but its great! You get to use American guns; ( B.A.R., Thompson, M1 Garand, Springfield 03', Shotgun, Welrod, and M9A1 Bazooka), British guns;( Sten Mk 2, and M1911), and Japanese guns; ( T-11 LMG, T-99 LMG, and Type 97 Hand Grenade). Another good thing is that you can get hidden items like Machetes, and shovels to unlock multiplayer characters, or cheats like silver bullet, and unlimited ammo. The story line is extremely easy to understand, and is pretty interesting. You also fight in places that the Japanese tried to take over, like Singapore, Burma, and Thailand. The only thing that I don't like is that you don't fight on Iwo Jima. So all in all, I extremely recommend this game to anybody who wants to buy it!

This game flat out stunk. The controls were awful, and the graphics, TERRIBLE!!!!! My game had a glitch where it wouldn't let me get past Guadalcanal. The enemies were just plain stupid. You could walk right past and they wouldn't notice, and then they didn't really even attack you, unless you were two feet away. Also, the weapons were awful, the Thompson with a 30 round clip! How does that work!!! I would recommend European Assault more if you really like medal of honor games. The only good level was pearl harbor, and that is not saying much. If you are a hardcore military game person, try call of duty. Much,Much,Much better. The story line in this was nonexistent. Who heard of a marine in pearl harbor, Guadalcanal and singapore. Insane!!! If you did not realize this earlier on, do not get this game.
Rated 9 out of 10 by tyleravery123 overall.. good game
I think this game is good. The storyline is good but the graphics could be better. But i mean it came out in 2003 so they did a good job. This is my favorite medal of honor game because the guns are better. Also.. Frontline doesnt even have mulitplayer? And European Assault has mutiplayer, but it doesnt have al bots like this one does. And european assault is newer. This game is good and i would highly recommend it. Some parts of the game get really hard though, but hey thats the fun of it. Also, i love how you can do two player campaign. Its great because if your by yourself and cant get passed a mission, then you can get a friend and go in together and do it then. I think its better for two player campaign becuase i think it is more fun and has more action. Overall.. great game
Rated 9 out of 10 by madcuzilost one of the best war games i on the ps2
THE GOOD- good sense of interaction with the envirnment, many different guns that all pack a punch, if you take an enemy turrent the enemy will charge at you, turrents make you fell indistructuble, great level designs especialy the hotel, many bonus missions. THE OK- I found that you will need to play this game with the volume turned down because the gunfire sounds are too loud but you can probably fix that in the options, the way you save the game is you find save icons throughout the level which was a nice choice meaning you don not have to use the pause menu. THE BAD- graphics are not that good, enemies jump out at predictble moments
Rated 8 out of 10 by Russkie27 Not as good as Frontline, but still a solid game!
This could be where Electronic Arts started to care less about the Medal Of Honor series. Rising Sun is set in the Pacific Theatre of World War 2. Even though the missions are somewhat long, there is still not enough gameplay! This game could've used a couple more missions. The ending was terrible. The soundtrack was descent, but maybe they should've let Michael Giacchino make this soundtrack as well! No offense to Christopher Lennertz. The controls are easy, the gameplay is solid, graphics are solid, soundtrack is average, but you will still find yourself enjoying this game. This is a good World War 2 based FPS and worth the buy!
Rated 9 out of 10 by Carson27 Blast From The Past!!
This game is an excellent World War II first person shooter. I will admit that Medal Of Honor Frontline was better and in my opinion the best Medal Of Honor game on the PlayStation 2. But Rising Sun doesn't disappoint. I wish the game was just at least another level or two longer.
But now to the reasons of why this is an excellent game to buy! The graphics are good, the gameplay is solid, storyline is well scripted, and the soundtrack is pretty good as well. The controls are easy, and this game keeps you interested throughout the entire game. Lots of interesting levels from Burma, to Singapore. Great buy for any gamer!
