Maximo: Ghosts to Glory
Game with Character
I simply love the Maximo series and personally think that it ranks up there with Sly Cooper and that it belongs in every gamer's library. It's inspired by the Ghosts n' Goblins series but this time it's much easier although its still no cake walk. Challenge - Rarely did it frustrate me but I gave it a 7 because this game is quite hard especially compared to other platformers like Sly Cooper, Jak, or Ratchet. One of the issues is that you have to spend coins in order to save the game, on upgrades, and health items; unfortunately the levels don't provide an ample supply of coins so at the end of each level you have to make tough decisions on how to spend the coins you've collected. Another problem is that at some levels, the jumping parts can get frustrating because the camera doesn't give you a good view. Sights and Sounds - Realize that Maximo is from 2002 (and that it was originally being made for the N64) so the graphics are a bit blocky. But there's a lot of variety in the enemies and the levels are well designed with lots of small details. The characters are also well animated and really brings the game to life. The sound effects are great and the soundtrack will stick in your head. Length - There's like 5 levels, each with several stages so it's not a very long game but with the high difficulty level, it's not like you'll blow through this game very easily either. When I beat the game, I felt fulfilled.
ok game not great
This is ok but not great I played better but it's good. The character you play as moves like he is on ice which will get annoying. It is pretty hard I am on the last level it took me a while though. It is not that long you will beat it in a few days. There is not much of a story to it there is one you have to save maximo's girlfriend and you get sent to the under world where you meet the grim reaper. The controls are easy to learn. The sound is bad.The worst thing is how you save the game it took me a while to figure it out you have to find this pool but when I tried it it didn't do anything and it sais in the booklet you need a hundred coins why do you need coins? There is also checkpoints but they are also comfusing you have to do a jump attack on the checkpoint that is weird. It is cheap you can give it a try if you want.
A Fun, Old School Platformer with Charm
This game is extremely fun to play, being it an almost 3D Ghosts and Goblins. It has great charm, and it will have you laughing as you watch Maximo's armor fall to pieces from damage, as well as panting as you try to survive on your last life. The two negatives to this game are that saves are few and far between, and once it's done, it's done. If the lack of save points is an issue, check out Maximo's sequel, which fixes the problem..
This game is so stupid it has no point at all HORRIBLE graphics!!!!!!!
