A Great Film Noir
Max Payne puts you in the role of well, Max Payne, a cop who gets involved in some serious business. You start off finding his wife and baby murdered by unfamiliar men. The cutscenes are mainly executed through comic book-like stills, with a few in-game ones. You get a great variety of weapons to slay your enemies with. Some of the best levels in the game are Max's dream sequences. About the only flaw this game really has are the graphics. Sorry I couldn't say much, but I was afraid of spoiling.
DISTERBING STORY IS WHAT MAKES THIS GAMES SO COOL
I love this game i just got and its cool the story is great but the story could of bin longer but still badass game
Brings back good memories
I haven't played this game in forever. It was amazing though. The story is told really well and the gameplay is above average for ps2 games. If you are young like when i first played it, it may freak you out a little. This game gets pretty dark in lighting and enemies come out of nowhere a lot. I would prefer this game to anyone looking for a nice, easy thriller game for ps2.
Great but it isn't for Everyone
This is a great game but it isn't for everyone. This game is very disturbing. The first mission is the most disturbing thing I've seen in a video game. The violence is strong. There is a lot of blood and it is a little creepy when Max Payne goes after a man who worships almost every form of the devil there is. For those hardcore gamers who can get past the disturbing, bloody, and creepy parts of the game, I recommend this game. The gameplay is awesome. There is a mode called Bullet Time where you can slow down time. The story is long which is a nice change of pace compared to today's games. The way the game tells the audience the plot is also awesome. Max Payne narrates as the player plays the game. This fills in questions you have as you play. I would highly recommend this game to hardcore gamers. For everyone else, you have been warned.
Excellent game play and awesome OST
Great environments, however, the graphics aren't top notch. Great to play if you're wanting to remember the good times in gaming and have at it with gun play and listening to max payne's narrator tone and stories. Also the length of the story line is outstanding which is hard to find in a lot of games nowadays.
Too disturbing to enjoy...
Max Payne is just disturbing and I couldn't stand it so I sold it for 20 bucks. It's all just bloody content that is just not right with it's violent content that is just makes you sob.... man i just can't play it.my apology to all fans but i don't like it.even GTA and COJ is not disturbing as this game.
1 word AMAZING
ilove it the graphics are bad but its great and a lot of realistic guns
pretty good game sticks to the movie well.couple parts are hard though.
One of the best ps2 games i play
I love that the story was about a cop who lost every thing he love is wife, kide all on the same day. One day he came home from work he call to is wife but she did not call back to him so look a round the house then he went up to the seco floor and that where he fond is wife, baby boy dead on son in bed and wife in masterbedroom on the bed that when he lost it. and the voice was bye Mark W the moivestar
Max Payne is an awesome game, especially for the ps2. The graphics are pretty good and the story line is good. The game lets you do things you can't do in other shooter games, its called bullet time. When your behind a wall and you know when you turn the corner theres gonna be like five guys waiting to ambush you, you jump sideways, turn on bullet time, it adds a cinematic slow-mo effect as your in the air shooting at the enemies. Its awesome! One of the annoying things of this game is Max himself. He always has the wierd devilish smirk across his face. Its creepy. When hes shooting, getting shot, jumping, he always has the same sick expression on his face. He even has the smirk when he dies.Other than that, awesome game. Also you should check out the movie based on the game, and max payne 2, and the long awaited MAX PAYNE 3! Coming out in winter.
