Mana Khemia 2: Fall of Alchemy Limited Edition
Double the Characters, Double the Fun.
Mana Khemia 2 is definately worth getting. 2 main characters with 2 different stories and extra content after you finish them, I put around 150+hrs into this game. It's heavily based on alchemy where you create items, weapons, armor, etc. for your characters. Depending on how you perform the alchemy creation, you can have multiple different effects on the items, weapons, armor, etc. As such, you get a lot of customization options. The graphics are not incredible, but they are still good. A lot of it is designed to look like artwork and has some very beautiful scenes. If you liked the first Mana Khemia or the Atelier Iris games, you will like this game. Even if you didn't like them, you will probably still like this game. Its a very good game, with 2 interesting storylines, a fun battle system, nice artwork, nice music, and a whole lot of gameplay.
Too many disses!
I beat the first, and loved it. I wanted to buy the second, looked on gamestop online, and saw the ratings. This made me hesitant to buy it for awhile! But I finally bought it recently. I think this game is just as good as the first, but there are things I don't like. I don't like the Grow Book this game, because you make items and then you flip a card and can level up. Not as good as number 1, I'll admit. Good graphics, good battling, everything else was fine. The battling system isn't like the cards this time, but you have bubble grid that determines your turn. I love the characters so far, and I'm itching for more. Seeing allies and foes from the first game really make it fun too.
This game needs better ratings :)
Not As Good As The First
Mana Khemia 2 is the sequel to Mana Khemia, but loses out on some of the features that made the first good, and throws in some that just aren't that great to begin with. You have to stories to follow, overlapping each other, and when you beat both on the same file, you get a third mode that lasts only a couple of hours. The method of gaining HP ans SP was easier in this game, where you just had to fight some battles, as opposed to the first game, where you had to unlock it in the Grow book. And that's another thing that's changed. In MK, you had to unlock tiles by making items, and you couldn't access other tiles until you unlocked the previous one. In MK2, you make the item, and it would appear in your book, able to be filled in at any time. This game was easier for that reason. The music in this game is nowhere near the quality and excellence of the first game, and that affects the overall feeling of this game. The story was much less serious in this one, and there isn't really any part of it that seems dramatic or exciting. The characters were less likable, and the whole game was one big joke. The graphics really didn't change from the first, and the controls and game play mechanics were similar. There isn't much to review this game on, as it took most of its content from the first one. This game is for people who like JRPGs, and aren't looking for graphics alone.
Return to Al-Revis
If you are looking for breathtaking graphics or flashy fight cinemas, unique gameplay, multi-layered characters or an epic, thought-provoking storyline DON"T get this gameMK2 is a quirky little game with cutesy graphics, laugh out loud situations, fun, yet repetitive battles, over the top characters, and a plot that is easy to follow, but ultimately forgettable. In this sense, it is exactly like its predecessor and those who enjoyed the first game will find more of the same, with a slightly tweaked battle system and two main characters whose storyline run parallel but don't really intertwine until the end of the game. Perhaps the best part about the game is that it never tries to be something it's not and If you have read this far, you probably already know whether you will like this game or not. If you are still unsure, pick up a copy of the first game as it's easier to find and its sequel was definitely made with the fans in mind.
3/4 bad 1/4 good
ill start with what i like first in battle mode the characters look great and preform good to. now the cons their is just too much talking even for an rpg infact their is so much talking in the beging of the game it feels like your watching a short film. all the sprites look cliche from what details they have , however when you enter a battle their is much more detail this kind of thing may have been ok in an older game but come on get with the times. also the characters in the game makes basic concepts sound hard to do like battling and searching and gathering was something new in an rpg. your character level up in unique way that forces you to search for material in dugeons and drops from battling monsters to synthesis items. and the synthesis in the game is simple untill you add in the aid character that add effects to item being made and their some kind of scoring system for it to that determines the qualty of the iterm being created.also the character talk way to much during the cut scences. don't know if this game gets better after the first couple of hours because i stop playing it and took it back the same week.
I haven't disliked a game this much in a long time
I have played the other games in this series and enjoyed them. However this game is just awful. The main characters are unlikeable and unrealistic and the plot is predictiable and boring. The dungeons and world maps are boring, unchallenging and poorly drawn. You level up by a 'grow book' system in which you must first make items and then in addition fight monsters for points, making leveling up and learning new skills tedious and annoying. A number of boring and difficult courses must be completed to advance the plot, making this game more of a chore then fun. I gave it a low rating due to the fact that this game couldn't hold my interreast more then 10 hours of game play. I would not reccomend this game, even if you enjoyed the others from this series, as I enjoyed them, but hated this one.
Like Ar tonelico.
If you have played Ar tonelico. And The Sequal. *Which was the best ps2 game that has ever existed. Then you will like this game. It is about A school That teaches regular classes. Witch some odd add on classes such as combat and well...alchemy lol. your job is to pass the year by attending classes. and finishing your assignments by going out to the wind. fighting beasts and finding the right ingredients for the alchemy potion that you need to create. some of the sound effects that are from Ar tonelico 2 are added on to this game when using spells. the voices are great. art work is excellent and of course, some comedy is added on. This is another great add on for your collection as a respected RPG series. And whats so great is that the Limited edition has a poster and CD Remixes from the game (>^^)> Thats just cool lol...ne wai thx for reading. now go out there and buy the game! :D
This is going to be a epic game for the ps2
The first mana khemia was indeed addictive, The gameplay the intrestestin and sometimes fun ingriedents hunt to create new swords weapons and in othe accessories i remembered the long nights with Mana Khemia cannot wait to play the 2nd on hopoefully it will eclipse the 1st. I reccomend new players to play the 1st one First
I've seen videos on youtube, and I've played and own Mana Khemia 1 so I know for sure that this game is gonna be the best RPG for the PS2 in the last year. The game play looks amazing and the fact that there are 2 different characters to choose from, each with multiple endings is just plain epic!
Awesome Game -- A must get for RPG Fans
I got the first one and it was very addicting, with a new game+ feature and multiple endings it has you playing it over and over.. seeing how this one has two main characters I'm sure this game will provide tons of fun game play, plus they always give free stuff like posters with the game.. very nice.
