ok let me start out by saying that you cant go wrong with this game! The challenge is excellent, beatable, but it definatly puts your skills to the test. I like to compare this game to Spider-Man 2, because its also a free roam game with missions. And for being the old game the graphics are right up there with spider-man 2. It has everything, shooting, cars, running from cops ,racing, get-aways, and much more. There are even some missions where you have to be secretive and stealthy. There has to be something you can find in this game that you'll really love. I mean who doesnt like to drive a car with a top speed of 200mph. The storyline is also excellent. S lot of thought, time and research went into this game. It really has that 1930's feel to it. VERY REALISTIC. and the weapons are true to that time and era. weapons that gangster actually used back then. I rate this game an over-all TEN, and I strongly recommend it to Everyone. (mature that is) And once you've beeten it and grown tired of it, set it down and in a little while, you can pick it up again and enjoy it as much as u did when you first played it. The only thing wich is not the greeatest is the blood graphics, it looks more like a little red mist, that lasts only a second. Which could be good, if you dont like blood and gore, or you parents, are against those kinds of things. which may give you a better chance of getting this game. anyways I hope all this information helped. Enjoy :D
The 1930's crime drama for ps2
This is a fantastic game, but I really like crime games. You should definitely check this game out if you like a game with a good story. This game reminds me much of ps2's 'The Getaway'. That was a good story crime game. This is one too, only this game is set in the 1930's America. I'm not finished with the game, so I can't comment on how long or short it is, but let me say the graphics are simply astounding. The control is kind of stiff, but really not that bad when you get used to it. The combat doesn't work well, when fighting bad guys with a baseball bat or a handgun, sometimes you aim right at the guys and shoot them, and they don't get hit. Very weird. The story is the best thing about this game, It could become a movie, it's that good. Check it out if you like crime drama adventure games.
Mafia is not a movie.
The Mafia game is not like a film you would watch on the big screen. It was made in the way where the player feels this is a game. Mafia involves objectives, missions, a few races and other things. This game offers the player a few cars dating from the time period. The game takes place during the prohibition era supposedly. Mafia is very gangster for all of the Mafia fans out there. Players who enjoy the mafia or gangster films, this game is for you. If there are players who are looking for a really good action game, this game could be for you. The levels are decent, since it is based on a city structured map. There is racing involved and you could always go back and race again. There is a mode in the game where it lets you just cruise around the whole city. In this mode it lets you drive around with the car of your choice. Over all, mafia is a great game but lacking style during the missions. The missions pretty much consist of shooting down the other gangsters and passing the objectives. If you want a good original mafia shootout game, then Mafia is waiting for you to check it out. It's a game you can't refuse.
this game roxs its awsome it has every thing from being a criminal to being a normal person
Immersed in a World of Crime
Mafia is the type of game where you either love it, or you hate it. If you enjoyed the Godfather movies, you are just interested in the concept of the Mafia, or you enjoy the GTA series, this game is probably for you. If you are not interested in organized crime, or you hate GTA, look elsewhere. Mafia is not a challenging game. Despite one or two levels, it is relatively easy. The graphics for Mafia, considering it’s a port from the 2002 PC game, are not bad for its time. If you are expecting next gen graphics, you are going to be disappointed. The game is average length, but just right for the story. If the game were any longer would have lost its edge. Controls were a bit clunky but bearable. The sound was mediocre, not because of voice acting, but because of the music. The voice acting was great and conveyed the emotions needed for each character. The music for the game had three tracks: the main theme and 2 other tracks repeated throughout the game. The story was saved for last because it is the best part of the game. The original story really takes the player into the world of organized crime and shows just how unforgiving the life of a Mafioso can be. The bottom line is, if you like gangster movies, or just want a 40s twist on GTA, pick the game up you wont be disappointed.
This is a great MAFIA game. I just wish that the story of the game was a lot more, and also for MAFIA II.
Let me first say that i highly recomend this game to all people who enjoy these kind of games. and even if you dont play crime games that much i STILL think that you should try this one out. When you load up the game for the first time you MIGHT say that it is a little too dark. that happend to me and all my friends but you can just adjust the settings on your TV. anyway, i feel that the storyline it very well done because you actually get in the main characters shoes so to speak. the time era of the game jumps to and from about the year 1930ish to the late 1930s. The sound and music is also well done, i always love the distinct sound of the Tommy gun and then switching to a shot gun. in Mafia there are a lot of different vehicles so you never get bored of driving. and speaking of driving i don't know about you but sometimes i will load up a car game and i will want to drive slowly and stop at stop lights well in this if you are speeding or you run a red light than you will get a ticket and to many tickets spells out GAME OVER for you because the cops will gladly arrest you. but to avoid speeding you can push the limit button and you wont drive over the speed limit. All in all a very well done game. good story, good sound and music, and good controls. ( By the way i feel i should say that just so you know if you are buying this game for a son or daughter or any kids than you should know this. it only says blood and violence but there is a lot of cussing no F words but still pretty bad, and there are some levels than are a little suggestive like in one level you have to go to a brothel and.... shenanigans ensue) I HIGHLY recommend this game to everyone who plays the category and even people who don't. thank you for taking the time to read my review and i hope you have a great time in the family. (mafia family that is :)
Pretty good for a 2004 game.
Mafia takes place in New York in the 1930's and 1940's. The game is great, if you are into games that are in the 1900's this game is awesome for you. If you get it and dont like it that is your fault. Spending most of your day on this game is a good amount of time.
Mafia is a game based in the 1930's. The game is ok but the graphics are very poor. the story line is ok but not the best. I would not recomend this game to anyone. Free ride is the best part of this game but in the country side you sometimes get stuck on steep hills. the controls are ok in the driving part but the shooting is a little hard. You can only steal someones car if its the car you started out with. It says there is blood but theres really not much. I got board with this game in about 15 minutes. There is a fairly good selection of cars but you have to unlock them first. The story mode is not very long and pretty boring. If you wantede a game like this one but with better graphics you should get driver3. driver3 is like this but in modern time and better story mode and good graphics. Over all i think mafia is very dissapointing. I would have to rate it a 2.
Want To Be A Mobster ? Join the MAFIA
Mafia is introduced as a GTA like game, just in the early 1930s-1940s. The missions seem like ones that would be in a GTA game. The characters are neat, and the story is great.
In Mafia, you play as Thomas Angelo, who starts out as a taxi driver, but soon gets involved with the mob. The story is told in retrospect, so you're introduced to Tommy during the late 1930s while he is confessing the events of his sordid past to a detective--in exchange for witness protection.
Game play- you have to drive the speed limit and obey all stoplights if not you can choose to stop and get a ticket or run. When killing, you can lock on to targets, making the game better (shooting wise). The free-drive mode isn't really that fun, unless you like being able to spin people out or get into shootout with gangsters walking down the street. So I'd suggest sticking to the missions.
Missions- Mafia has a nice variety of missions. The storyline that goes along with them is well thought out and makes the game better. They're challenging and have neat objectives to them, making them a lot more fun. You're driving people around, killing other mobsters, or smashing stuff up, you're sure to find most of the missions in this game fun.
Graphics- the graphics in this game are nice! They really give you the feel of New York in the early 1930s-1940s. The PC version of the game hands down has the absolute best graphics.
However, despite some of the recent pros, there are things that you will notice that are very frustrating. What's particularly annoying is that you'll end up having to frequently drive from one side of Lost Heaven to the other, but just as you cross the midpoint of the city, a loading screen jarringly appears and takes its sweet time before it goes away.
The cars are sluggish slow vehicles, but that’s to be expected from cars of that era. You also lose chunks of your health at a time. But the whole theme of the game really captures the time period, and makes you feel like a badass mobster.
In the end it’s a good game with fun missions and graphics that are considered very nice for a 2004 game. If you don’t mind the screen loading than this is a game you should try out.
