i am making a review for this game because i have the pson eversion of the sorcerrs stone. the sorccers stone is far by the best harry potter game of all time. the game has some off course levels and great places in Hogwarts not even in the movie. i really love this game because of the music and the traveling through other places of hogwarts. this game is a big win.

Harry Potter and the many Glitches
===========
Foreword
===========
The product details for this game are inaccurate on a few points. Though, the most obvious example is that it mentions the game uses a turn-based style of combat which isn't the case at all. That style of combat was used only in the GBC version of Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Stone which is a RPG.
===========
Story
===========
The story of this game feels like a major miss in my opinion. I understand that the game needs to be a bit free in terms of the story in order for the game to work, but the rearranging of the ordering of scenes from the book and the removal of certain characters doesn't endear me to the game.
===========
Characters
===========
While certain characters feel rather well-done in terms of characterization. Other characters feel like changes were made to them for the sake of convenience. Snape's hatred of Harry is toned down by about a 100 degrees and Hermione is still book smart, but less knowledgeable of spells. The most glaring example of this is when she doesn't know how to cast the unlocking spell.
===========
Gameplay
===========
The game is rather simplistic in terms of game play mechanics. If you run towards and edge you will jump if you are allowed to or will cling to the edge if you can't. You can drop down from a ledge by slowly approaching the edge at a more sedate pace and you'll slowly go over the side. In terms of casting spells you can't assign three spells/items to be quick use. Your allowed to assign them to the square, triangle, and circle buttons while the x button is used for all of the action options in the game like opening doors, opening chests, clinging to walls, and so on.
Sadly there are some issues in the gameplay area as well. The biggest problem is the camera which often times is difficult to shift into a useful position to view the action. A few jumps in the game need to be made with blind faith since you won't be able to see the other side all that well. The camera can also get stuck behind an object as well. I recall taking off of one of the towers on my broom and the camera getting caught behind one of the turrets. I was helpless at that point and had to quit back to the menu after I saved the game. The game also has a problem with crashing as well. The game crashed at least four times before I completed it and most of the crashes happened around the final boss battle which can require waiting almost 5 to 10 minutes for it to load.
===========
Graphics
===========
Graphically the game is a bit of a mixed bag. The game comes across as a weird cross with a style sort of like a cartoon and also a bit realistic. These conflicting styles sort of just make the game seem a bit dull since it doesn't keep a consistent style.
And a lot of the glitches in this game are graphical. I've opened up treasure chests only for the items to appear to be floating inside the chest. I've picked up several items that were invisible.
===========
Sound
===========
A bit of a hit and a miss. Some of the tracks are rather strong in terms of invoking a whimsical feel, but other tracks are rather dull and boring. Though, even the boring tracks aren't annoying so the game should be satisfying in terms of audio for the most part. Though, I have heard complaints about the limited number of tracks.
Voice acting for the characters is a bit of a hit and miss as well. On one hand the voices for certain characters like Harry and Ron feel rather fitting. On the other hand you have voices like Dumbledore which feel out of place.
===========
Lasting Appeal
===========
There isn't any real lasting appeal to this game. The only thing you can do after beating this game is revisit the spell challenges to collect all of the challenge shields to increase your house point total. The only other thing you can do after beating the game is take advantage of a glitch to get your completion percentage from 88% to 100%. During a normal pass of this game your completion percentage can only reach 88% even if you complete all of the tasks and collect all of the challenge shields.

Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets (PS2): This game uses the same style of action and combat as this game only it is a bit more refined.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (PS2): Similar in style to this game as well.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (GBA): A turn-based RPG based off of the 3rd book in the Harry Potter series.

Yawn
This game was so BORING. The levels are long and weird. The sound is terrible and the game gets boring right away after you finish the game. I would recommend this game to any one who likes harry potter and puzzles.

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy
Seriously? This game was so easy, I beat it in less than one week. I mean come on, EA Games made Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone video game way more simplified than the movie. But there were a few things that I like a lot. I liked how the Prefects don't deduct house points when you get caught (this happened in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and I was really mad). I also love the spell book challenges. Some spots were difficult to beat, but most of the time the game was super sinchy. But if you like these easy games, I would buy it for a little brother or sister. Or if you like to beat games with ease. Even if this game was super easy, it is still worth buying. It is super fun and you can really get into the game. I can't wait to beat future Harry Potter games!
