Bullet shells and guns galore!!!
Ah what fun. Gungrave, a game with much potential! Though it has some faults, it is one of those "Underrated Gems" you hear so much about. People say they're good, some say otherwise, but what do you think? I personally love the game. Let's start with your starting position: You are Grave (whose real name you figure out later), who is rather miffed at a syndicate and it's dark deeds against... well... ANYONE! In the beginning of the game, we meet Mika, a girl who Grave has sworn to protect against the impending doom of the world around them. She brings you a case with two guns inside and... well, you get the idea of where this is going. Sound quality is great, gameplay can get stale after the first three levels. What I mean by that is, well you basically have three controls: Regular shots, Super Destructive shots, and your Melee attack, which is when you fling your rather large weapon container around at opponents. Regular shots are just point and press, kind of like God of War. Destructive shots are activated by triangle, and boy are they destructive. On to a fault: THIS GAME IS TOO SHORT. I don't mean short-lived, I mean short. I beat the game in about five hours, with snack breaks. BUT DON'T LET THAT DRIVE YOU AWAY!!! The game has these faults, but it has that anime look that can appeal to most gamers in a sense that the cutscenes come to life before you! Not even joking, the anime like cutscenes blew me away, and really tied the game together for me. Lastly, your replayability of this game is moderate to a point where the difficulty really brings up how hard this game can get. Complete it once, get a new character viewing extra menu, and another difficulty, but that's about it, once you get the last difficulty, there is nothing to do but replay levels over and just enjoy shooting bad guys. In all honesty, this is a must have for any mature gamer, any fan of God of War, and anyone who likes playing as a dead guy who excells at kicking the heck out of baddies.
