Rated 10 out of 10 by SUPERTANK630350 GREAT TACTICS GAME GREAT HUMOR
This game is not only fun to play over and over again but the challenge never leaves. The game has such great replay value it's almost stunning. Disgaea 2's backwards sense of humor is great and always keeps one laughing. Being able to not only raise monsters but level them up, put them in weapons, and sell them is great, but the ability to level up weapons by going into the item is impressive and innovative in the uniqueness of style and game play. Stacking players and throwing them across the room just to get to new places is fun in it's own right. Yet the uniquness of combined bonuses from apprencee like characters makes things not only interesting but exponentially fun. I would recommend anyone who loved final fantasy tactics to go buy this game!

Rated 10 out of 10 by Ohyeahcola AWESOME!!!!!
this game is the second best game i have played! anyone with a ps2 should have this even if you dont like srpg's. AI: the AI is great and i have never seen better! challenge: a very challenging game and you can get the enemies weaker or stronger!!! graphics/animation: the graphics are not great but the gameplay is what makes a disgaea game not graphics. interface: a great interface! sound: one of the best especially considering it is from 2005 storyline: best storyline ever!!! if you have a ps2 you should either have this or get it!!! also anyone that gets this should know that the third one is coming out in august. remember to get this it gave me over 70 hours of gameplay. Story
===========
The story of Disgaea 2 follows Adell a young hero that wishes to save the world of Veldime from Zenon, a powerful demon overlord. In order to engage this powerful demon in combat Adell's family invokes a contract to summon forth Zenon from his hidden palace in the world of Veldime. The summons apparently fails though since the ritual ends up summoning Rozalin, the daughter of Overlord Zenon. The game then precedes to have Rozalin lead Adell around in attempt to find her father.

Gameplay
===========
The game makes improvements to the system over the last game. The monsters that are themed to be magic-users now have weapons that are more suited to their capabilities. The game also makes changes to the Dark Senate as well. Now you only need a simple majority to pass a bill. The game also removes armsmasters in favor of felonies. Your character can acquire felonies for having high stats, capturing to many enemies, defeating to many enemies, and so on.
The game also makes a few changes to the item world as well. These include the ability to increase the level of the item allowing you to power-up an item to a maximum level of 200. You can also encounter pirates in the item world that you will give you map pieces to access the land of carnage. The land of carnage is where you'll need to go in order to fight some of the optional bosses as well. It also the only area in the game where you can access the item god so you can steal the most powerful weapons in the game for your characters.
To access classes that aren't part of your defaults you need to pass bills in the senate. In addition each of the character classes now posses unique abilities. Certain character classes are immune to certain magical attacks while certain classes are immune to magic period. This also includes healing magic as well. Certain characters will attack twice if their HP is at 1/4 or lower. These new character class abilities add a new level of depth to the games mechanics. The game also features a new system where if you continue to attack an opponent or defend and not move you will gain a 10% to your stats each time you attack or defend without moving. You can still move the character around by throwing them though. This system may be extremely helpful to you in tight battle.
Outside of these changes the game still plays the same as the previous title. Though, this game definitely works to better balance out the character classes unlike the last game.

Graphics
===========
The game still makes use of 2D sprite imaging. If you enjoy this simplistic graphic style then this game will appeal to your visual tastes. If you want a game that is more graphical complex and uses 3D models, then I'd look at games like Kessen.

Sound
===========
This game has a rather well done score in many parts. And a few tunes that I enjoy to listen to on their own. Though the game also recycles tracks from the last game as well.

Lasting Appeal
===========
This game like its predecessor offers a lot of additional content. The game offers multiple optional bosses to defeat, a dark world to explore which allows you to play maps that you beat previously, but makes changes to the goals. Also, if you don't defeat the stage in a certain amount of time it is game over. And, there is still all of the level grinding necessary to power your character up to the max.
