A great digimon game
Any fan of the digimon series, will like this one. Although it's a bit hard & you can only control 1 digimon.

A brief look at this mediocre game.
Story: Despite the title of this game being "Digimon World: Data Squad" the story doesn't follow the one in the anime. This is a case where the original Japanese title "Digimon Savers: Another Mission" would make more sense. The story in this game is re-imagining of the plot.
The plot of this game is that you are trying to rescue children that were kidnapped and brought to the digital world to be used as material to create "Mao" digimon that represent the seven deadly sins of Christianity. And, yes that is the plot of this game. The story of this game isn't bad in terms of presentation, but it lacks a sense of seriousness and epic plot line of your standard RPG.
Characters: I've been told that the characters in this game are faithful to the actual show. So, if you enjoyed the characters of the show then this game might be worth a slightly higher ranking for you. They even went as far as casting the voice actors from the anime to reprise their roles for the game.
Sound: This is where the game starts to truly suffer. Most of the songs in this game are rather generic or stock. Almost all of the songs are used in a manner that is inappropriate for the scene that they are used. The music in this game often acts as a mood detractor or is barely noticeable. One of the major missteps was the battle theme which is some generic rock song that doesn't get you excited for entering into combat. Instead it makes you want to go to sleep. I will compliment the game on the songs that play when you digivolve into a new form and during the first and second battle with Lucemon.
Graphics: The game is decent in terms of graphics. Most of the digimon look decent for this game. Only one or two stand out as looking a little blocky. The one mistake that was made in terms of graphics has to do with the human character models. Most of them look odd to say the least.
Gameplay: The combat system for this game is turn-based but adds in a slight twist as well. The moves that will be open to you will be affected by your digimon's mood/personality which can be altered during battle with the use of support commands. This adds in a slight strategic aspect of working to mold your digimon's personality to be as useful in battle as possible. The only problem with this system is that your personality stats are never shown anywhere in the game which makes it difficult to figure out how the various aspects of your digimon's personality affect its move set.
The game also deploys what it calls the "Galactic Evolution System" which basically means that each of your digimon represent a certain galaxy and the stars within each constellation displayed in this galaxy represent how many requirements you need to meet to unlock a new evolution. This system is rather well done and is interesting. My main problem with this system is that certain evolutions require that you run away from a certain number of fights before they will unlock. It also makes it important to keep track of who is landing the killing blows on enemy units as well. Since, many of the evolutions require that your digimon has defeated a certain number of enemies of a certain type.
Overall: This game is just mediocre or weak in so many areas that the game is just average. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone that isn't a die hard fan of digimon.

Ok but sad
The game is great for the beginning gamer who loves turn based RPGs. I feel that the story line was awesome and all of the unlock-able extras were plainly put cool, but unfortunately when it comes to graphics and difficulty very sad. Most of the moves were nothing more than repeats animations regardless of which Digimon you used and most of the Digimon evolutions were repeats colored differently; very disappointing.

Great for 10 and below
This game is maybe better for E players. It's not violent and gives off the same old Digimon feel, however it could be so much better. At it's current price, $**, it is really worth it for a boy that still likes Pokemon. There's not much to say but it is definitely a good game for any Digimon fan, and should be bought for one. The battles are fun, the levels are action packed and the game is solid. However, one off set is that the game makes you not able to choose who you can digivole to. The whole digivole thing is much different...your digimon can digivolve to everything! You just need to complete some sub-missions like: Get 3 digimon, open 10 chest or battle Lithomon. I would write more, but this game can only show its true self by getting it...cheap and an okay RPG.

Digimon is beyond pokemon, the Games are awesome
I am really looking forward to this game. Hopefully there are fighting game elements to the main human character and Digimon battles that are similar to the previous titles like the original digimon world. There is alot more elements in digimon that pokemon just cannot compare to. I love Digimon, I can't wait for this game, the DS games, and the new season.

This is awesome its going off the 5 season. I have watched some of the season on youtube. But i am really excited for it. Loved both digimon and pokemon. The should put this on the Wii so it would have some capabities with the new dawn and dusk. This way bandai can compete with battle revolution
