Now I am not going to jump on the Devil May Cry 2 sucks wagon like everyone I know does to me it was just average. The main reason I think this game gets so much slack is just the expectations the first one set. Now to put that in perspective for me at least the first Devil May Cry was the most enjoyable experience I have had in gaming since Final Fantasy 7 yeah it was that good. Now the number of problems is huge slow combat, low difficulty, dull environments,Dante's dull personality ect However there were some very well done things that not only made this game worth playing but were also carried over to possibly the best hack & slash game ever made Devil May Cry 3. The good was The ability to customize Dante's powers with amulets (Later made into the style system carried over to 3&4) The easy dodge system (Later made into Trickster) as well is the ability to play as a character who is not Dante (Lucia 2,Vergil 3 and Nero 4). In short is the game bad? Not really. Is the game good? It's worth a play through but unless you are a huge fan of Devil May Cry it may sit on your shelf unused afterwards.

DMC 2 may a confusing story line at first, but it's still the a really good game, and one of my favorites of the DMC series. Combos are hard to pull of, but I'm not worried about a gold score or anything.
Dante has a more serious demeanor in this game, though he's still the devil butt kicker he is in any other game.
And don't think after you beat Dante and Lucia's stories that you have beaten everything on the game! After you complete their stories on hard, you unlock Trish and Arius to play; Trish on Dante's disk and Arius on Lucia's disk.

Not my favorite in the series. If you played 1,I would still recommend it, just to tie up some loose ends.If you follow the storyline. Controls don't feel as tight as the first, graphics are acceptable for last generation games, the voice talent was cheese. But so was the voice talent in the earlier RE games...like a bad B movie.(Guilty pleasure,I like bad B-movies)Play it though,It gets better with age.Like cheese.

Rated 7 out of 10 by Nicharesuk Come into this game with a different Idea
This game is almost nothing like the original, other than the sound. Devil may cry 2 is a much more combo heavy game. It doesn't keep the same feel as the original, but thats not really a bad thing. Don't come into this game thinking its going to be a better DMC, it's a different action type than the first. Comparing this too much will make you dislike this game. It really does have good qualities; Lots of attacks, secret items, clever puzzles. Even if a little bit of it is frustrating, in the end you get your action fix. Also, it has an added storyline, which satisfies my "tying up loose ends" need. The story line doesn't make sense at first but finally in the end you completely understand. The new added wall run and acrobatic moves are really cool, making you feel amazing when you've just pulled off a major long combo chain. There is, however, a bit of a chore with the grading system, I could never really understand if I was doing good or not during the game, or what caused a good grade. It felt sorta...Random. But there really is no SUPER AMAZING thing that happens if you get all gold or something from what I saw. It's mostly there for replay value. The new character, Lucia, plays really similar to Dante, but with more finesse and different weapons. You'll have just as much fun with her as with Dante. In conclusion, Devil may cry 2 is a pretty good action game. It's greatly different than the rest of the other DMC games, but its still good. If your looking for another DMC like the first, go with the third. All I can say is I did enjoy this game for what it was. Devil may cry 2.

Again, I can't stand the save system of these games. I also don't like the missions all that much so that doesn't really work for me with the way the saves work, and that's why I don't like it all that much.

Rated 10 out of 10 by Yup12 Great Game!!!
I am aware that this game is really nothing like the 1st game, but honestly this game is fun. Dante isnt as wise cracking but the new combo's and walking on walls is pretty cool. DMC is an awesome game but trying to comparing the two will make you hate one or the other. Pick up this game it is a must have.

Rated 4 out of 10 by Nomakius Devil May Die!
I played this game at my cousin's house and let me just say that it is horrible. Compared to Devil May Cry 1 this game doesn't even compete. This game has an easier difficulty which is so obvious a blind man can see it. The graphics are pretty average nothing too bad but all the scenery in the game looks depressing. The gameplay is where this game is poor at. They make the action so repetitive that it's boring, if you shoot an enemy he will automatically go in the air until you stop shooting him, what kind of physics is that? The sound is kinda weird since it's mostly recycled bits from the first game and when Dante runs it sounds like he's wearing high heels. The storyline is kinda cheesy and the main villain is the worst villain I've ever seen in a video game. Which brings me to the biggest flaw in this game... DANTE! Dante's personality is changed so bad in this game, he barely does his trash talking to enemies or other characters and he's always serious. He also has this new thing where he flips a coin, it's like he's emo or something. The controls are a plus to this game and probably the only plus because the way the buttons are mapped out are acceptable but it doesn't save the terrible voice acting in this game. It's not just the voices but it's the lines the characters say and it's mostly from that new character Arius and that girl with the red hair. Also the camera is notorious for moving to a bad angle which makes fighting enemies a pain in the neck. Devil May Cry 2 is a bad game in general even if it weren't apart of a series it would still be bad because the gameplay stinks and the cutscenes are cheap. The only reason you should buy this game would be to complete your Devil May Cry collection or laugh at the voice acting.
