The Final To A Great Co-Op Franchise For PS2
Conflict: Global Terror is a tactical shooter that puts you in control of a four-man squad of commandos as they fight against terrorists in various locales across the globe. In fact, Global Terror is actually the fourth game in a long-running series of similar shooters from the now defunct Pivotal Games. Your team consists of the same group from Desert Storm I and II. Plus, a new member that appears later in the game.
GAME PLAY: the game involves a lengthy, 14-mission campaign that will take you all around the globe, from steamy South American jungles to snowy Himalayan Mountain passes, on over to the streets of South Korea. Each mission takes place on a fairly large map, and you'll need to complete a series of objectives (that often change mid mission) in order to complete the level. Each mission can take quite a while to complete, but the size of the level is only part of the reason why. You're given a limited number of game saves per mission depending on difficulty level. Without giving to much information, during the course of the game one of your fellow soldiers goes MIA or KIA. For the female fans of the game, since this is a four man team you are given a new team member who’s name is Sherman a female Corporal who’s specialty is sniper. Corporal Sherman is more than capable of taking care of herself and is an equal to her fellow squad members.
As mentioned earlier, you do have the ability to issue orders to your squad, such as hold position and follow, or fire at will and hold fire. There are more advanced commands as well, such as the ability to give delayed orders, which will be executed later when you give the go code. Switching between standing, kneeling, and prone positions can be a bit of an adventure, since it's mapped to a single button. You'll also notice that your soldiers don't always keep their weapons at the ready. For some odd reason, if you move around a lot without firing for a while, your commando will inexplicably drop his weapon from a ready position. This results in an extra second for him to raise his weapon and fire the next time you try to shoot, which becomes really annoying when you turn a corner and find yourself face to face with a terrorist and he gets the first shot off.
You can switch control quickly between the different members of your squad. Amazingly, it's actually easier to switch between squad members than it is to switch weapons and fire modes on an individual operative. Though each commando is supposedly a specialist in certain types of weapons, this doesn't have an appreciable effect on the game play. The point is that in some situations you need a rifle, a silenced submachine gun, a heavy machine gun, or a sniper rifle. You can think of the different operatives more or less as different weapons for different situations and swap between them accordingly. And since you need to keep all of your squad members alive at all times anyway, you're never without the right tool--although if you leave them on "fire at will" too long, they may go through all of their ammunition. Thankfully, you have the ability to pick up dropped weapons, and there are usually a generous number of weapon caches and health packs lying around for you to grab if you need them. The missions themselves are a highlight of the games campaign; they do a good job of mixing up your objectives as you blow up roadblocks, escort VIPs, capture key enemies, and of course, shoot up a lot of bad guys.
CO-OP: is the Best thing about the game, which really makes this game brilliant. Player 1 has Bradley and Connors and Player 2 has Jones and Foley/Sherman. Together you work your way through the game cooperatively using each characters skill to your advantage. Extremely useful when you have a teammate and one serves as distraction drawing enemy gunfire, while the other works his way around the area to flank the enemy. The game is easier to manage when you and your teammate can exchange weapons, health packs, collect intelligence without the cause for concern of babysitting three members of your squad compared when your playing single player.
GRAPHICS: the presentation values in the game are decent, but they're nothing to get overly excited about. The character models exhibit a fair amount of detail and animate decently. But you'll notice an excessive amount of fogging if you try to look into the distance, which limits the effectiveness of scoped weapons. At least the variety of settings you play through keeps the game looking somewhat interesting. One of the best parts of the graphics is the night vision goggles and thermal vision lens which has an “Ah ha! Got you” factor where you can surprise the enemy without their knowledge. To the point you can use stealth and earn bonus achievement points.
SOUND: on the other hand, is particularly good. The voice acting is crisp and clear. The music in the game is a little sub par--especially the menu music, which is about as cheesy as the soundtrack of a '70s-era B movie. There are some cut scenes to move the story along, which is particularly noteworthy and enjoyable to watch. Between gunfire, flash bang grenades, explosives, shotguns, vehicles, and general atmosphere all sound as if you are right in the middle of the action.
FINAL THOUGHT: Conflict Global Terror is a lengthy and varied campaign, with intricate squad commands, and a squad control system that's easy to use. For a game that was released in 2005 it is a truly fun single player and even more extraordinary co-op game that continues to accomplish what the previous Conflict games achieved. This is a must play with a friend or family member.

Very fun and strategic
This game is very fun and strategic. With the ability to control any of the 4 characters at the push of button, game play gives you strategic options to finish each mission. The story is good, the graphics are good, the weapons are strong, and overall a very enjoyable game which you really have to think to complete. This is not a mindless First Person Shooter, it is a 3rd person shooter which requires some strategy. I would definitely recommend it to anybody that wants something different than mindless 1st person antics.

not as good as I thought
This game, Conflict Global Terror, is not what I expected. I saw an ad for this game and it looked really cool. I tried this game a week later. First of all, this game was Third Person. That made this game harder. I am mainly a first person shooter but there is some third person shooters I like. This Third person was not one of them. It would take a few shots to kill one guy. Once I tried to kill a guy with a sniper. I shot him once and he didn't die. He just starts shooting at me and other guys come. The graphics weren't great. They are like a 2002 shooter graphics than a 2005 one. The weapons were ok. I liked the M4A1 the best. I never tried the multiplayer in this game but all I know is that this game has a co-op champain. I just wish that this game was first person.

one of the best games ive ever seen, the storyline will have you on the edge of your seat..especially the online gameplay, i have yet to see another game online where you actually play with your friends in a 4- man squad..most shooter online games have you 16 v.s. 16 but this is an awesone game if you like shooters or great online play, i am in online play as well you can see me as CIA-Amed in the playstation 2 edition, this game to just about all of us online Conflict: Global Terror think this game well outdoes Conflict: Denied ops, and this game is alot cheeper than it too...the guns are great and pretty up to date, the A.I.in this game is pretty good i'd say but the challange is great, feel free to challange yourself to an awesome game like this, one more thing if you even attempt to use codes online i guarentee you will be kicked by just about everyone, have fun with your new game!!

Conflict, I think not.
As a fan of shooter games I found this game to be extremely entertaining and fun. With many different challenges and missions, it was non stop fun. With four characters you can play as with many differnt abilities the game seems even more of a challenge. I would absolutely recomend this game to anyone. Along with other Conflict games. They are all fantastic in my opinion. The series has many different challenges. With minor or few little appearance glitches. (hardly noticable). A minor defect is that if one of your officers dies while in combat you have to either revive them with a med kit. If you do not have one or can't find one you have to finish the mission BEFORE you member dies. Although many find it to be a defect of the game I find it to be even more of a challenge. I give this game 10/10 A fantastic game.
