Armored Core 2
A blast from the past
Armored Core 2 is a very challenging and addicting game for Playstation 2 from Agetec. This game is perfect for anyone who loves customizing robots and other kinds of machines. The game starts out with a test to see how your abilities are in battle. If you win, you get full registration into a raven arena (ravens are mercenary armored core pilots) and if you lose, you die. After this first mission you are able to check email sent to you from other pilots, engage in arena battles, buy and sell AC parts and customize your AC. The parts you may customize range from guns to radars to body parts. The sound is okay but don’t expect anything great. A problem I noticed with the sound is that when you finish there is some kind of whirring sound that stays as long as you continue to play. Maybe it was my copy or it actually is a problem with the game. The graphics in this game are not bad. You may also customize your HUD. It can be as detailed and complex or as basic and simple as you want. The lands in this game are pretty good by today’s standards and excellent for it’s time. The multiplayer in this game can be both split screen or you can link play. Link play is where you take two TVs, two PS2s, two copies of armored core 2 and a link cable and hook them all up. The point of this is to play and your opponent cannot see what you do. This game is deep and exciting and will keep you playing for a good long while.
This game looks great, it sounds great, but its not... I first got this game thinking it would be similar to the original psx Armored core's in which turned out to be a HUGE disapointment. I had trouble just doing the very first mission on this cause the weapon damage ratio is so under powered that you cant just blow things up. The game is challenging but I do not want to spend forever on 1 mission. I would recommend looking over gameplay video's before buying any of the other Armored core's so that you don't find out its a let down. The Arena's are ok I guess but I got the game mainly for the missions, not to fight some CPU(random no brain just push buttons till the player is dead computer).. It's more fun fighting arena with other players(Humans!). I'm gonna look into the other mech type games and post reviews whether or not there good or bad.
Tricky but okay game
In the beginning of the game, you are a machine, something like a gundam, if anyone has heard of it. It's tricky from the beginning. The games never tells you what the controls are so you have to figure it out yourself, which isn't difficult, if it was like a regular game. Instead of using the joysticks, the game forces you to use L1 and R1 to move left and right and the up and down directional pads to move up and down. You use the left and right to change the angles. I was going to get Zone of the Enders but it's not in my city's gamestop so ya. Check if ZOE is in your city and if it is, get that instead.
it a realy fun game with only a few problems you cant use the joy stick and it dosent aoto save but i strongly recomend this game
