Armored Core 2: Another Age
Armored core 2.5 is hands down my fav AC game. It’s basically the same as all others, but it had the most “1st of it’s kind” weapons/gear that would then be seen in 3, 3.5, and 4. It’s a classic. For modern games expectations might be too high for this, but it is a classic. I loved this game.
In the AC games you start out with a very basic mech. As you get currency you improve it. You buy new legs (controlling speed and how much gear you can carry) jet packs (for flying) arms to hold heavier weapons, radiators, jet pack rechargers, heads, torsos, arm guns, hand held guns, back guns, etc. main things to worry about are firepower, speed/agility, how much gear you can carry, etc. Theres also strategy. If you are facing a heavy bot with heavy weapons, you need one that is agile and can dodge them. Like a wasp vs. a gorilla. So theres a lot of improving throughout the game, adapting, etc. For the younger minds this will teach them to be creative, how to adapt, and how to overcome. There’s hidden items in missions, that are best found through wiki or the strategy guide.
Like all AC games, it’s rather short. It’s a B-line to the end mission game. No real side quests, and nothing to do but multiplayer after the main story.
Also like all AC games, there’s the mission, and then there’s the arena, where you fight against one NPC at a time, rising in the ranks, gaining currency and unlocks. The higher up ranks like all AC games are “cheaters” they are able to have the heaviest/biggest/strongest weapons in the game, on the smallest/lightest/fastest mechs. Giving them unbeatable speed, unbeatable agility, unbeatable firepower. Imagine trying to take down a humming bird from hundreds of feet a way, and on top of that the humming bird is machine gunning nukes at you. The top 8 ranks are unbeatable, maybe cheats help.
This is my fav AC game, you can’t go wrong for how cheap it is now, but in the end it’s a 1 play through game. No replay value. If you have someone to do multiplayer with it’ll help it’s play value and replay value.
