Great story line and awesome music :)
I love Ar tonelico 2, I've never played the first game but I fell in love with the second game. My friend thought the game play was boring as she watched me play but honestly I don't care what she says, I love the game. The story line is wonderful, filled with emotions and different situations, also great characters and I adore the music!

Awsome
I am a BIG anime fan and im happy they made these games. I have been looking for an anime game for a long time ( good ones anyway ) and this one is number 2 in my ps2 list. there music is amazing and the storyline isn't fast or cheap. it's nice and very interactive. I would recommend this for a friend or an anime game lover.

Really fun game, but there is a bug...
I really enjoyed this game. This has interesting plot as well as good combat system (I liked timed button pressing to block attacks). I think 2 is the best out of 3 Ar Tonelico series. But this game has real big bug near the last boss (-2 points for bug!). Like other people mentioned, it crashes if near-last boss uses some special attack. So you must defeat the boss within 3~5 turns. However, other than this, this is a great game I can recommend to RPG fans. I just hope Ar Tonelico 3 does not have such stupid bug.

The game is awesome to core but...
The game rocks my socks, no two ways about it. The characters are great, the story line is awesome, and Diving is one of the coolest things I've ever seen in a game. I've never before played a game with controls like this one, and I must say that I like it. But I wouldn't recommend buying it if you plan on completing the game. Unless, there exists a Game Shark or Action Replay code to make you kill any enemy in one hit. You'll need that, absolutely need it. Why? Because the sub-boss in the final dungeon has this stupid little glitch that causes the game to freeze as the boss's 2nd -5th turn begins. Until NIS and Namco/Bandi decide they want to fix this problem, don't buy it. Unless there is for a fact beyond reasonable doubt Game Shark or Action Replay has a code to overcome this problem some how, don't buy it.

Perfect
This game has 1 word that describes it all. Perfect. the characters where set amazingly. the story was cool. is truely amazing. it even dragged me away from the shooter games and into more anime and manga set games lol. the japanese really did a great job on this 1. love the anime ar tonelico too. it's a must have. must play. ive even bought 2 more just not even opened. just if anything ever happens to the 1st one. *im taking care of it like a baby lol* there is a little hentia in it secretly i could tell. by other's reviews i can see other people saw as well. *the kids wont really notice though* but other than that its a 10 outta 10 for me. anyone else who doesnt think so. im disapointed in lol. #1 RPG in my book. great controls. and drawn cool for the city display. go out there if u dont have. buy it. play it. love it :)

WARNING
Though this game is excellent, there is a major glitch in the game where when you fight the sub-boss Raki, the game will freeze. It is a problem that has not been announced or taken care of by the company that made the game. You can play just near the end when you'll hit this road block. The only way to beat it is to use a cheat disc to give yourself an infinite turn. The game freezes when Raki uses a certain move. Those with a codebreaker, they don't have the codes for this game....-_- or much of anything else in updates, and I'm not sure if the other cheat discs have the code or not. I'm disappointed in those who made this for not finding such a massive glitch. No one can play to then end without cheating on that battle, and thats "if" they have the cheat disc for it.

If you like rpgs and great storyline this game is for you!!!
This game is awesome, the first one is great. Play the first one if you haven't first. Support this series. If you don't like the series then keep it to yourself. If you like RPG's with great storyline like secret of mana for snes or Final fantasy games then this game is for you. It's not a hard game but its fun, long, and well worth it. The graphics are really nice and the songs are great. The character design is really good and the story is intriguing. If you want a super hard mode type of game this isn't for you. The dive system is cool, it's fun to do and is a new way of leveling up. What else can I say, if you read this review and are an rpg fan then you know this game is legit. Buy it don't pirate, you'll enjoy a well developed game.

Not what I was expecting, but not exactly bad either
First, I would like to say that I had never even heard of the AR Tonelico series until a few weeks ago and have not played the first game. I was expecting a sci/fantasy rpg with a simple dating element akin to Thousand Arms for the PS1. What I got was a sort of soft-core hentai game in disguise. This game is full of sexual innuendo, and the adult content of the game is way over a kid's head, so they probably won't really understand many of the situations in the game that the rest of us will. The combat system is a bit clunky, but combat doesn't seem to be the main focus of the game, so it wasn't really an issue for me. The "dating" aspect of the game is actually fairly well done, and the dialogue between characters can be quite entertaining. The graphics, for the majority of the game, are substandard at best. What makes the game is the quality of the story, voice acting and music. If you are looking for flashy eye candy and top notch visual effects, look elsewhere. If you enjoy a game that has voice acting by some very talented actors (which include Steven Blume and Laura Bailey), a very nice soundtrack and loads of comical sexual innuendo and euphemisms, then this is the game for you.

Finally a sequal that surpases it's predecessor
This is one of the few games that improve as they make more, all of the things they've upgraded are the battles the way you interact and the way your ending comes. Even though the first one had it's perks this is going to be an easy win over for better gameplay graphics and story.
