Sony PlayStation 2 Memory Card 8MB
Nothing beats the Official Sony Memory Card
I once read in a magazine that buying official sony products for your playstation 2 tend to become more reliable than third party products. I agree with that 100%. After going through my share of the "16MB" memory cards from other companies, it just started getting old. You get a third party memory card with more storage and within a week or two it starts corrupting games and slowly leads up to not even working anymore. Luckily I had all my saves "backed up" on the original official memory card made by sony which lasted for (not even kidding) 3 years and still running strong today. I prefer anybody who is looking for memory cards to get the official ones made by sony. Because even though you may come across the ones that hold more, they are not worth your time or money. Stick with sony products to use with your sony system. Or at least products licensed by Sony.
I have had one of these memory cards ever since the PS2 came out and it has yet to fail me! I have a VERY LARGE game library and my memory card is just starting to get full. My friend has a 3rd party memory card and three weeks in it deleted all of his data. This means that you should always go with the makers of the console even if third party storage is cheaper or costs the same for more memory. These are definitely worth the money and they will never fail on you in the middle of a game when you need more memory. Just remember to stick with Sony products unless a lot of customers say otherwise. Nobody has made a better memory card and it has held every game in my library which take up an entire shelf and another storage compartment which is made to help save space. If you have games ( which you probably do if you have this console), then this is a very good deal because you need it to save in the first place
I had a Sony 8MB Memory Card since Christmas of '08, but a few days ago all of the data got corrupted. So yesterday I went to GameStop and got the 32MB Memory Card, and so far it works great. Here are some details about it... COMFORT: It fits fine in the PS2, I don’t know why people say its too lose, unless they have the old fat PS2, because I have the slim. DESIGN: I gave design a 7/10 because it is about 3/4 cm longer than the Sony Memory Card, so it won't fit in the PS2 game cases that have the Sony memory card holder. Other than that, it is the same width and height, i think. DURABILITY: Great, it has the same strength as the Sony memory card. FUNCTIONALITY: Good, it is a little bit slower than the Sony memory card, but not too much. Other people say it takes forever, but only about 50% longer. It wont kill to wait 5 seconds more. One soor spot: it doesn't work with the PS2 MultiTap Adaptor. What I did when using the MultiTap is inserted the 'Tap in slots 1, and then putting the card in slot 2, and it works great! If it is possible to use two MultiTaps, and you do, then you wouldn't be able to use the memory card. I would definitely recommend this product to someone wanting to buy a memory card. 4 times the memory of Sony's card, yet half the price. Thanks for reading this review and I hope that this helped you make a decision.
Memory Card is needed to play games. Surprise!
There really isn't much to say about a memory card, but here goes. It holds 8 megs, which is the size you will find on all comparable products from other companies. Other companies might offer cheaper memory solutions, but for peace of mind, I find that 1st party generally performs better, though I don't have much proof to back that up. You have to have one of these things to save games on your PS2, which is kind of the point of playing games in the first place. Don't have one? There goes your awesome Guitar Hero score, your RPG after beating a tough boss, your shooter after clearing a particularly tough game. Beware, these things fill up fast if you are into sports games, as full seasons are notorious for large save files. They rarely break, and do their intended job. Have games for PS2? You need one.
Always Buy Sony (Authentic) Memory Cards
Other companies have larger cards, but they are not as safe as the Sony card. Fake Sony 8MB PS2 cards can be found for much less than the over priced legit Sony-made versions. However, saved game corruptions are significant, and build quality is very poor. I bought one Sony-made 8MB memory through a 3rd party, presuming it was a real Sony-made item. Yes, it was 1/4 the price of the real thing, but some games didn't even recognize it or simply gave corrupted saves 100% of the time (such as MGS3 Subsistence), while others didn't seem to care (such as MGS2 Substance).
The card rattled, too, due to a loose board inside the case. It didn't fit smoothly into the PS2's memory slot, either. Spelling errors on the back was my first indication it was fake, but comparing it to a known legit Sony card, it was quite obvious.
You can't go wrong with buying a Sony (Authentic) memory card.
a must have for ps2
if you have a playstation 2 this is a must have, to save your game data
It's what its meant to be
I've owned four of these and not a single one has wiped out on me, i definitely recommend it to anyone that treasures their game progress. It's very well worth its price but Sony should have made a better design or at least different colors. It can transfer data from to or from anothere Sony memory card very quickly.
THis system is the best console EVER!!! I love the controller! It's my favorite controller. It also has some very good games. My favorite is Kill Zone!!!!!! I say that you should buy this console and all the games for it! I'm sure that you will love it.
this memory card is great. it holds a lot of your games' memory. i had to buy 2 because i have 26 games. when you get to about 20 games its time to get a new one. my only compliant is the price but its a great product.
I did not buy this memory card yet because I've only been comparing prices. But from what i found i searched you can get a 64mb memory card for less than $10
