Valhalla Knights 3
Old school RPG with MMO style fights!!!!
I am an old school RPG fan (first RPG was Legend of Zelda) and I have been disappointed with recent RPG's. They were either too short or lack any type of cohesive storyline or both! It has made me a little gun shy when it comes to buying any new RPG's, but since Vahalla Knights 3 was well received in Japan and I had heard good things about it I gave it a chance. WOW am I ever glad I did!! This game is everything that a RPG fan could want and more. You have 100's of different stats, skills, weapons, armor and items to upgrade your characters. Not to mention all the different races and classes making it almost limitless in choices. The storyline is great and there a plenty of "side" adventures so you don't feel like your constantly "grinding" to get the next level. The gaming area is HUGE and gives you the feel of being in a limitless area. The battles are awesome!! You can have up to 7 members in your party which can battle other parties of up to 7 members. Full 7 on 7 battles and give that MMO feel with out being an MMO. You can also go on line and have epic 7 on 7 battles with other people.
This game is great! I would have to put it right up there with the best games to come out for Vita! If you like RPG's give this game a go you will not be disappointed!!
Want to love this this game but....
I play my Vita and my 3DS more than I play my console and PC put together, and since I also love RPG's, I REALLY want this game to be good.
So it pains me to admit, that after watching the above video I'm pretty skeptical. The purpose of a company releasing game footage pre-launch is to try and generate buzz for the product, which means they choose the footage as carfully as they edit everything together, with one purpose in mind - make the game look as awesome as possible.
Which is what makes the video that was givien to GameStop so worrisome to me. I encourage all of you to watch or re-watch the video and notice the stunning lack of atmospheric detail in every single scene - The landscape in every scene looks sleep-inducing, there doesnt appear to be any environmental or atmospheric detail at all - the epitomy of generic. The few indoor scenes shown are probably worse, unless all of the buildings shown are supposed to be utterly abandoned, as well as freshly cleaned.
The excuse can't be made that "these are just the battle scenes" and therefore just a generic backdrop only shown during a fight because in the preview it is stated that: "Seemless transition to battle on the field map commences..." so if there is no battle transition, then there is no generic battle arena like in some RPG's. The Vita hardware isnt a limitation either, its capable of way more than what is shown in this video.
I hope that my fears turn out to be unfounded, but I for one will be waiting to try before I buy on this one
Very excited for Valhalla Knights 3
This game is what the PS VITA needs. It will show off the graphics of the vita and online features looks good too.
it looks from the screenshots to be more open world than 1 and 2 so thats good and the combat looks like its sticking to its roots the combat was always fun so im not complaining
maybe they'll get this one right
The first two in the series weren't very good. The first one was very tedious to play with tons of level griding and extremely bland environments and enemies. Xseed has published some great games so here's hoping they step things up and give us another great RPG on the Vita.
