Rated 4 out of 5 by from I Loved it This was my first full play through of an otome game. At first I of course being me prejudged most of the characters and decided who I was going to probably like. Then I played and played.... This game is so darn good that the characters you thought were annoying or you wouldn't like end up either being your favorites or well liked. They are so good at bringing life and depth to the boys. The characters are great and VERY RELATABLE!!! It was crazy how relatable they were. I found myself feeling what the characters were feeling. I got caught up in the fluff and the tragedy. The game play itself is pretty linear. You have to pick certain choices to get the full story. I did not know this at first and ended up missing out on so much with my first story line! My only complaint is I wish there was a bit more to do in the story line and a bit more to the story line. Maybe more side relationships? I don't know. Especially more scene art. Some parts of the story seemed lacking and dry. The characters were never lacking though which made up for most empty spots. This game's main focus is romance after all. The story itself is a dystopian theme and analyzes the never ending pattern of war. Overall I do not mind a linear game though. I LOVE a good story and this is a visual novel. This will get you hooked. It makes you think and really tugs at your heart strings. The art is beautiful. I highly recommend this game. There is even a sequel to it, but at this point in time it is only available in Japan. Hopefully they will bring it over here in due time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommended Norn9: Var Commons is fantastic. Once you start, you have the option to play as one of three heroines, and from there you choose one of three bachelors. All of the characters are amusing and unique; the music is haunting, amusing, and uplifting; the story is engrossing and filled with so many feels; and the art is phenomenal. Long story short, I love everything about this game and can't recommend it enough! Fingers crossed that we'll get the sequel game as well!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It was fun. Norn9 is a visual novel revolving around three heroines and nine romantically pursuable male characters. If you've never played a visual novel before, it is purely reading, picking your choices/responses, admiring the pretty art, laughing, feeling the warm chest fuzzies, and possibly crying over characters. Some parts are repetitive and predictable after playing one route and you're starting another. The game knows this and recommends you choose stories in a certain order so you are not spoiled on another route. I definitely enjoyed some parts of the game because the interactions between some characters are just too adorable. A few of the good points of the game is that despite how many characters there are, the dynamics of every relationship are uncovered over time and you learn why each character acts a certain way towards another or why they get along. I liked that there was character development and this game definitely liked laying on the anguish. But it has its cliched and fluffy moments as well. Some endings weren't my cup of tea, but it suited the characters just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Different but good! This Otome game is different in the sense that instead of having one female protagonist, there are three different ones to choose from. Also, each female protagonist has three set of guys she can choose to romance. I liked that they did that because it makes the game that much more fun to play. Overall Norn9 was very good. I could not put it down as soon as I started playing! If you're interested in Otome games go buy Norn9 and support the localization of great Otome games like this one!

Rated out of 5 by from Not Your Typical Otome Game Norn9: Var Commons is a massive fantasy otome (female-targeted) visual novel that allows players to decide not just the story's general direction, but also choose which protagonist you'd like to be (whereas most otome games give players only one protagonist to play). Based on which protagonist you choose changes the story's direction from the get-go, allowing further plot-customization and alternate scenarios. Adding to Norn9's uniqueness are its visuals--whereas most otome games use still images, Norn9's beautiful visuals come alive with elegant animations. These unconventional features make Norn9 a rare, recomendable treat in an already rare video game genre.
