Rated 9 out of 10 by ivanbaird4 Great buy for Vita owners
Even though the console versions have peace walker included as far as a portable game by itself this game is a great buy. (huh already put that in the summary). Remember the God of War collection and how the graphics were just like how you remembered them and maybe a little bit better. well this game is better then I remember in Graphics, Sound and everything else. This port retains all the original cutscenes, and codec conversations including the bonus ones. It is one of my favorite in the series and if you bought Peace Walker digitally then you can just re-download it to your vita and there all three games on the go. Trophy support adds a lot of replay value and also this game comes with the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. All in all the voice acting is top of the line, the story is gripping, the cutscenes and gameplay is beautiful, the characters are all good and none are annoying, and the combat is smooth and fast. It isn't like mgsv or 4 but you can do all sorts of CQC (Close Quarters Combat) From grabbing opponents, slitting their throat, flipping them, holding them up, to just plain punching and snapping their necks. WARNING this does not contain the dream sequence mini-game however or the one with the monkeys.
Rated 10 out of 10 by CoillyZ One of the Greatest Stealth Games Ever Made
This is one of the greatest games of all time. I know that's a little blunt to start off a review with, but it's true. When you first start the game, you realize you are playing as Snake. Not Solid Snake, but Snake. You are playing as Big Boss in his prime during the Cold War.
This game improved the MGS series in a lot of ways. It made you pay more attention to the game and your surroundings. In the past MGS games, you had a radar that told you where the enemies were and their line of sight. In this game, you have a radar, but the game is set during the 1960's, so it doesnt tell you most of the information the old radar did. It was a small change, but it affected the gameplay in a big way.
Next is the survival aspect of the game. If you start to get hungry, you will starve to death. You have to go hunt things in between missions. That is where the subtitle "Snake Eater" comes in. Not only does it refer to the main character in the game, but it refers to the fact that you have to eat snakes.
Amidst all of the awesomeness in the game is the final boss fight, the last subject I will touch in this review. The final boss is one of the greatest sniper standoffs in video game history. You can tackle it any way you want. You could even save the game and wait for your opponent to die of old age.
So, the bottom line: This is an amazing game and definitely worth the $15 you would pay for the Vita version. Don't pass it up.
Rated 5 out of 10 by Volcomkewl Get the HD collection on Ps3.
You get waaaay more on the HD collection on Ps3, and it's only 30$! And you get Peace walker HD edition included! I do not recommend buying this version, although MGS3 is awesome, don't get it for the vita, your wasting your money.
