I thoroughly enjoyed playing both and enjoyed Enemy Within more, I didn't really notice any game breaking bugs as some have found in their play through.
I found the ability to augment and mechanize my soldiers to be a lot of fun and finding out that my augmented soldiers could also be psychic was also enjoyable.
I found the aliens attacking the base to be abit overwhelming and soldiers can die really quickly but that's what made it fun and captivating to me, to plan to attack and defeat the aliens and kick them out of my base.
The old X-Com UFO Defense when out in the fields had you searching for the aliens when the ships crashed or landed in this newer version it's all a straight shot. Aliens don't really hide or sneak they just pop out and attack that's my only real gripe is it's to straight forward.
It may not be for everyone but on Steam you can download a Demo and try it before you buy it to see if you like it.

With so many games these days to choose from this has a great sci-fi setting with simple yet thought provoking strategic gameplay. I have played this game on Xbox 360 and PC and enjoy it a great deal. I enjoy naming characters after people I know and then try to keep them alive on each mission.
Rated 2 out of 10 by Swae Strat Guide Game
This game grabs you at first, nice gfx and sound, interesting tho passé storyline, and seemingly tons to do. But once you get into the game it fails, big time. The gfx and sound have tons of small bugs and issues that pop up on all systems. No big really, but annoying. What makes this game complete garbage is the game play. As you progress in the game you should notice that the enemy levels up based on your actions, namely anything marked *priority*. This means that if you do something too soon, ur dead.. of course once you know this you can just wait and research and gather resources. Also, the game will change the combat rules as it goes, i.e. what was once a %75 chance to hit shot will now be a %35 CTH. If you spank the game for a while you will get hit by a streak of misses even if you have %95 CTH and the NME will have a streak of crits. This type of game programming became unacceptable as soon as it was made. For the mags, websites and reviewers to rate it so well shows how little they actually played it. If you like following a strat guide and feeling like you did something, go for it. Otherwise its still Fallout Tactics ftw.
