Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gold Edition
Love the game, but don't buy the download.`
I logged about 38 hours into this game in the first 5 days of owning it. It's a wonderful game that will keep you entertained for hours on end. The problem is I bought the download, so it keeps crashing and at one point deleted my saves. So final verdict: Definitely buy the game, buy find a store and buy the actual disk.
I've never had more fun in my life. This game is great singleplayer and multiplayer! Just sit back, relax, and conquer the world.
I don't see what the big deal is about this game i don't find it fun at all. but that doesn't mean you wont if you enjoy these kinds of games i think you should try it out a lot of people say its fun, i am just not one of those people.
Excellent Strategy Game
It really saddens me when people buy something and then give it bad reviews because it isn't "ADRENALINE RUSH SHOOTER #2364!!!"
The Civilization series has always been a slower paced game built on balancing the different resources you earn in order to defend yourself from barbarians and enemy civilizations in order to create a glorious motherland in your name. With the new expansion packs it has only gotten better.
Yes, this game will take a larger amount of time than zooming through the linear games that seem to flood the market anymore, but play it with a friend and it is some of the best fun you will have. I personally love creating sprawling empires that amass tons of gold in order to buy my units and send them knocking on the doors of my enemies. It's quite satisfying when you're finally able to overthrow the rival that has been ahead of you the whole game.
The graphics are simplistic, but I feel like I'm playing a game of Risk that became insanely more detailed. Take the time to learn what you're doing (or not) and you will have tons of fun building an empire either way.
Word of caution though: this game is turn based! It is not an RTS, it is a turn based strategy game. If you don't like that then you should avoid purchasing it.
Super Slow Mo!
After playing it for a while, I've come to realize the game is super, super slow. It has 5-20 minute lag times on the buttons. Read the reviews and you'll see many people are having this problem with various computer systems. The gameplay doesn't really make much sense. For example. "Build roads between the cities so you can trade." There's no trade route button. That's not an options. You can trade with neighors without roads. In hind sight, I wish I hadn't spent the $25. This game is for someone extremely bored with A LOT of free time on their hands.
