Yet another FPS?
While normally I would be happy to see a classic return, it is sad that this rendition of Shadowrun will be yet another shallow nod to the FPS scene, at the expense of the deeper RPG this game originated as. Had this been developed as a MMO, including the full range of Shadowruns capabilities, it would have had broader appeal, and greater marketability. It is shameful to use little more then the name of such a deep and varied system for such a narrow and linear game.
I had a chance to play the beta FPS and must say, this is hands down the best FPS shooter I have played. Most negative comments are from people who like MMO, Not fps, But it gets an A+ from me..
keyboard+mouse will rock!
My keyboard + mouse will totally give me advantage over the xbox 360 users. Cross-platform multiplayer gaming is awesome. For once I will be able to finally prove that keyboard + mouse is superior to dual analog.
I'm in the beta for this (the NDA was lifted March 1st) and can tell you the game is superior to Halo 2 multiplayer in almost every way. Graphically its just OK, nothing amazing but the graphics mean nothing as this is all about the gameplay . The amount of depth is mind-bending. Before any of you guys slam this make sure you try it before making a final judgement. It completely turned me around from a hater and into a defender of this awesome title.
This thing has some wierd balancing.... when I turn I get blurred???? Something to do with keeping console and PC fair? No offline mode? Not at all like the SR games of old. I would agree with an earlier review. If you want to make Tribes 2 for Vista then do it. Too bad, this had real potential. It looks like it's turning out to be yet another gimick FPS and worst of all with no offline either..
Where's the RP?
I like the idea of Shadowrun as a fps, but SR has always been an rp game. Does the matrix even exist in this version. Don't get me wrong, I'll love the game just cause it's SR. My main problem is that there's no offline mode. As said before this came would rock all others if it was set up like Perfect Dark. Someone needs to introduce the higher powers of SR to the crew that brought us PD.
OMG This game ruled!
If anyone remembers the Shadowrun back in the day for Snes or Genesis you'll get this game. This is a very fun and addicting game. If this game is anyone like the old school one I definetly will get it and recommend it for anyone who likes action / Adventure along with Roleplaying.
A bit diffrent
Well, I hate to dissapoint you folks who played the snes or genesis version It's nothing like that. Although the gameplay and mixture of magic and guns makes this game a whole new way of playing an fps. I played this gane already and let me tell you it freakin rocks!!
Windows Vista, 16 Players
Windows Vista and only 16 player support online. That says it all. Why doesn't somebody just remake Tribes 2 exactly except with better graphics, and on something that doesn't require Vista and super powerful video cards. Such a shame....
Shame it aint the real Shadowrun
While the game is shaping up to be a decent online fps, it's a real shame that they've take a brill pen and paper roleplaying game and turned it into a Tribes style game. Wish they did the original game justice and made an MMO.
