Serious Sam 3: BFE
Prepare to be mentally face-sploded.
This game will bring back memories, oh such great memories of a childhood game that didnt require learning from death or changing tactics to overcome a seemingly impossible challenge. It was all about grabbing the nearest gun and vicously sluaghtering hundreds, no, thousands of opponents that with a raging trigger finger fall before your onslught. A true throwback to the original shoot-em up style shooter, well done Cro Team, well done.
Best Serious Sam game of the series
This game essentially took alot of the things I wanted from the previous Serious Sam games and incorporated them. Weapons look and sound powerful and are just fun to shoot (I felt the previous games had weapons that just didn't feel weighty or sound beefy when I shot them). Cranking up the sound in this game is a pure blast. Blood sprays look awesome, and are very satisfying. Just shooting an enemy at point blank range with a double-barreled shotgun is about as fun as it gets. Graphics look awesome, even if it is all located in Egypt (some reviewers complained about this, but I don't recall those same complaints being brought up in the first SS game). The enemies look interesting and are very much menacing looking as well as challenging to beat, but not in a frustrating way. There is also a good mixture of small, medium, and massive armies of enemies to fight with different tactics to be used. Keeps the levels feeling quite different one from the next. The last few levels deliver some epic battles to conquer and I will replay those many times. I will say that I have read several professional reviews on this game that I have found to be woefully off the mark, and consequently they gave this game fair to good reviews. It deserves much better than that. It's the best game in the series in so many ways and delivers heartpounding, raw, satisfying violence all the way to the end. That's the core part of the game, and is delivered in vast quantities to the player. Period. If that is what you are looking for, then look no further than this game. I really, really hope Croteam moves forward to make another game using this style of weapons, sound, enemies, etc. I would even go as far as to say they could make it in the green Central America style terrian like Second Encounter with the same weapons and some new enemies and I would be thrilled about that.
