PC Gaming has never been easier

Product Details:

In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the "research and charity" branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, the asylum has been operating in strict secrecy... until now.

Acting on a tip from an anonymous source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line between science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.

Outlast is a true survival horror experience which aims to show that the most terrifying monsters of all come from the human mind.

  • True Survival Horror Experience: You are no fighter - if you want to survive the horrors of the asylum, your only chance is to run... or hide
  • Immersive Graphics: AAA-quality graphics give players a detailed, terrifying world to explore
  • Hide and Sneak: Stealth-based gameplay, with parkour-inspired platforming elements
  • Unpredictable Enemies: Players cannot know when - and from where - one of the asylum's terrifying inhabitants will finally catch up to them
  • Real Horror: Outlast's setting and characters are inspired by real asylums and cases of criminal insanity

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Some Games Are Not Meant to Be Fun... Let's get this out of the way quickly: Outlast is not a "fun" game. Outlast is oppressive, horrific and panic-inducing. The fun in most games comes from how the player is empowered to deal with the scenarios the game tosses at the player. In Outlast, there is no such empowerment. The experience of Outlast is created by stripping the player of the ability to do anything but run away. Outlast shares a design pedigree with other classic examples of indie PC horror games like Amnesia in that there is no combat. The player has no fighting finesse at all and must avoid direct confrontation at all costs. The tension created by this mechanic is amplified by the fact that the player is armed only with a night vision camera with a limited battery that must be replenished by searching the darkened hallways of the environment for replacement batteries. Run out of batteries and you will have to proceed in near complete darkness - while armed lunatics hunt you. At times, the things your night vision reveals will make you wish you ran out of batteries. Make no mistake, Outlast is grim, grisly and disturbing - perhaps one of the most intense horror games ever made, thanks in great part to graphics that perfectly convey grimy, blood drenched halls and near perfect sound design. There are times when you will not want to keep playing - but you will because the experience is compelling in the same way most of the best horror is. Outlast is not a fun game. Outlast is a trial to be endured and an experience all horror fans need to have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An Ok Horror Game This game, in a way, was a disappointment. The game was not that scary. The only thing scary about this game as a few cheap jump scares. The story behind this game is not at all interesting or creepy, and while the environment is unsettling, it's not that original. Overall, this game isn't bad, but there are far better horror games than Outlast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Modern-Day Amnesia If you ever think that you are immune to "getting scared". Outlast is the game that will prove you wrong. Trust me, you will never be able to play this game without flinching. With atmospheric tension in places that require you to use your night vision, and a beautiful yet chilling soundtrack that fits in every scenario, I think this game is the closest to be the perfect package for a horror gamer. The enemies in this game are horrifying, like the relentless Chris Walker and The Variants. There is some minimal flaws though, the variation in between the patients is not that good and the ending is a little bit disappointing. But besides that, this game is one that you must play if you are a fan of the horror genre.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely AMAZING This game made me stay up on my toes from the second I saw the game trailer to the second I was playing all of it. This is a highly amazing game and it's story, gameplay, and graphics are all amazing. I was blown away by the work on the graphics and awestruck of how much this game pulls you in. If your looking for fear or a living nightmare Outlast is most deffinetly the game for you. If you aren't to into being scared whatch a friend play it or play it with them. This is one game that goes from Horror to Comedey with just the exchange of a control. Watching others freak out while playing is great but being the one to freak out is exciting and deffinetly terrifying. Do I recommend this game? Yes!
