Might & Magic Heroes VI
Better game than many angry people think.
Now, a caveat, I did not start this game right at launch. I hear there were bugs, and it was fairly bad. I understand how this can "color" a person's thoughts so that no matter how it gets from that point on, they can't see anything positive. I accept that, and Ubisoft should be held accountable. Well, I have played this game for over 150 hours now, and rarely have any bug or performance issues. Uplay is a disaster, true, but hopefully the 1.5 patch tomorrow, where it allows offline and online saves to be compatible will help that. In short, they changed some things like added a skill tree, zones of control and recreated each faction's unit. It may need more balancing (also coming tomorrow), but even as it is, I find it engaging and fun. The graphics and animation are absolutely beutiful, and you can see the care that was taken to make sure the game looks great. If you can get through Ubi's unmitigated Uplay disaster, this game is solid.

The french company Ubisoft made a new world record. Tell me, you who read this, have you ever brought a game, that said ''multiplayer'' on the retail box, yet you cannot play with your friend that brought the same game as you? Behold Ubisoft and their HoMM 6. People arent in a single multiplayer server like battle.net. There are multiple servers, and YOU CANNOT choose which one you will be in. Forget playing over the net with your friend. They even removed the direct IP connect option from the old games. Also, most players play on easy, coop vs computers. Do not expect a competitive type of play. The makers of the games even have the audacity, the arrogance, as the lying frauds that they are, to send me a message saying ''I should check my internet connection'' when I fail to join a game, when I know it is their multiplayer coding that cannot be described without using foul words. Do not waste your fifty dollars like me. And im not even talking about the hundreds of single player bugs.
This is the first HOMM I have been able to stick with since HOMM 3. In this game, there is a bit of a throwback factor in it that is more appealing to me. Gone are the days from HOMM4 where heroes are on the grid, but much like HOMM3 the heroes are in the background only using general magics and/or a physical attack once per round. Unlike HOMM 5 though, they do not actually get a "turn" but can be used at any time during a round.
The Hero's leveling is where I noticed the biggest difference. Here you are no longer at the mercy of getting navigation or scouting unless you choose it. When you level up, you can dive into one of numerous skill trees that branch off into many more directions. From here you can choose skills that suit your play style, making each hero build unique.
Granted some things have been simplified, such as not having to collect 7-8 different resources. As the Haven group the only resources I need are wood, ore, crystal and of course gold. from a strategy point of view I see this as a loss, but an acceptable one. Granted it is easier to build your kingdom now, so to each their own.
Graphics are not eye popping by any means, but for what is lost in graphics it is made up for in gameplay. Honestly this is the first HOMM I am ever going to own since HOMM 3. 4 and 5 just didn't cut it for me, but after playing this one for a few days, it looks promising.
This is by far crappiest RPG i'v ever played. Dont waist your money, wait for D3 to be released.
