Product Details:

Life Is Strange is a five part episodic game that sets out to revolutionize story based choice and consequence games by allowing the player to rewind time and affect the past, present and future.

You are Max, a photography senior who saves her old friend Chloe by discovering she can rewind time. The pair soon find themselves exposed to the darker side of Arcadia Bay as they uncover the disturbing truth behind the sudden disappearance of a fellow student.

Meanwhile, Max begins to have premonitions as she struggles to understand the implications of her power. She must quickly learn that changing the past can sometimes lead to a devastating future.

Features:

  • A beautifully written modern adventure game.
  • Rewind time to change the course of events.
  • Multiple endings depending on the choices you make.
  • Striking, hand-painted visuals.
  • Distinct, licensed indie soundtrack.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Glad I only spent 5 bucks on this game... This game spent more time playing itself then you doing any actual playing. I hated this game. It's like 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. Don't waste your money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good Tell-Tale attempt. I can appreciate what this studio is doing and trying to do. This is a realistic-esque look at what a young person faces on a daily level while trying to learn and cope with a newfound ability; to rewind time. This has a very Unbreakable feel about it. Much like when Bruce Willis is learning his own strength, so is our main protagonist learning her new power. That being said, it felt very awkward. At first she's confused a bit and surprised, then suddenly it's a second nature. I know the game can't spend two hours having her hone her skills or mess with them and I don't think I could have done much better myself, but it does feel a bit off. The characters are my biggest complaint. They feel very, very shallow and predictable. For instance, there's a stoner. She is your stereotypical stoner. That's all you need to know to understand her character entirely. This game feels much like Dazed and Confused mixed with Juno when it comes to characters. A female lead is dealing with something entirely foreign to her and everyone around her is trying to understand and process it. It's just that everyone here is transparent. I get that this game attempts to appeal to the young side of people and provides a glimpse at the struggles youths face that most people don't even pay attention to, but it feels like it just fell short. Granted, this is just Episode one that's been released and this review is based entirely on that. Once the following episodes are released, perhaps the story and the characters will develop into something more. Until then, I'd look over Episode 1 and wait.
