vista... vista... why hate?
I dont get it, why complain about it being on vista, most games and programs are compatible on vista, when we upgraded our computer, most programs were wtill on the computer, except for GMAX and Halo 1, for anyone who has ever dreamed of modding, but without the hassle this game is for you, i think $300 for vista and halo 2 would be OK. vista will be the future of gameing, and everything. why wait untill you need to get it. why not just get vista now? back on halo 2 PC its going to be a good game, with the map editor specily. plus the new maps are going to rock your world. PROS: good gameplay if you have 360 wired controller, OK graphics, MAP EDITOR, new maps, for vista, if you have vista. CONS: getting a bit old, seeing the orginal version is 3 years old, needs vista. if you have vista buy it, if not, buy vista, if you cant get vista, then keep playing halo 1, its still a great game. im just sad i wont be able to play with any of my friends, since none of my friends have vista.
A Solid Fps, Not Apealing as the newer games.
For me this game is a classic, i honestly loved the story mode except for that stupid cliff hanger. The multi-player is amazing, something you can play over and over again until the end of days. Challenge: Varies from difficulty of levels, in legendary it can be hard, but the campaign is very solid, i gave it a 9/10. Graphics and animation: The graphics have had a few improvements, adding high/med/low details so that you may actually get a better look. Not only that it has high display resolution which is awesome! gave it a 8/10. Storyline: For me the story line was great, would have gotten a 10/10 out of me if it hadn't been for that cliff hanger. Controls: Controls are generally very easy, only thing i didn't like was that xbox controls automatically get auto-aim, pretty much giving them an advantage to Keyboard/Mouse users. Interface: The interface is quite nice, very clean. i gave it a solid 9/10. Sound: Sound is great, doesn't deserve a 10/10 but a 9/10 due to the fact of random glitch noises. In total i give this great game an 8/10 would have been somewhere between 7.5/10 but i can't so i'll just give it a nice 8/10. Responsiveness: The AI/AU is slow, honestly. I gave it a terrible low of 4/10.
Supperb even today...
This game is epic.... That campaign is fun but does not really have a lasting appeal for me, it is fun for maybe an hour and I am ready for the always fun multiplayer. Endless hours of multiplayer ,20 sum maps, an extensive armory of weapons and head to head combat with teams or a free for all bananza. Best part of this game is it has achievements most people may not care but its a bonus. And yes it does work for windows 7 with or without a patch or crack. Its for vista or up. Have fun halo fans I know I will.
Reasons to buy and why there is a Vista requirement.
OK, please understand that the Vista requirement is because it needs Direct X 10. Direct X 10 is just too much for XP to handle from what it seems or else Microsoft would put it on XP and have us play H2V on there. One tip about Vista: Disable the sidebar in startup. That is your problem and why people are thinking Vista is not so great. OK, the sidebar is a nice feature but I've disabled it and it's not much of a loss. 75% CPU to gain from disabling it. And also 35mb RAM which I would have normally not cared about, it was just the CPU hogging that I didn't like. Some think its a gimmick to buy Vista, its not. It's just requirements and Vista can be easily dimmed down to run great!
pc gamers get underminded
That is pretty aggitating, as Halo 3 is coming out for the Xbox 360, they just release Halo 2 for pc? What is that supposed to be? I suggest they release the game for every system (including pc) at the same time.
This is one great game! I've played the console version, and found skulls, and it's one great game! The PC version is great to play online, and I hope to be able to buy this. I'm wondering if it works on Windows 7.
The game is great, only one thing I don't like. I don't like the new pistol. In the first one the pistol was one of the most powerful guns in Halo 1. Now in Halo 2 the pistol ic a puny piece of junk. To kill some one you have to waist almost three clips. The things I do like are every thing other than the pistol.
Everyone, get a hold of yourself.
I've been scrolling down and all I see iis complaiints, people ranting about Microsoft putting the game on Vista only. They"ve done it for a reason and iit"s to grab everyone's attention to upgrade to Vista. If you're not going to do the swiitch, then don't. Vista is too new, actually. A lot of people said the same crap about Windows XP when iit first came out, people wern"t going to swiitch from 98 to XP. What happened then? People gave iit tiime and Windows XP became the best OS until now. HaloPC is the first game Ive played multiplayer on PC. I really love iit. Siince I dont have a computer yet, I bult one at Mycrobytes and it will cost me aoiund 2k, including Vista. My computer wiill be ready to run Halo2. If you dont want to install Viista because you have WIndows XP, create a new partition and install Vista in it. When you feel like playing Halo, boot with Vista. If not, normally boot wiith your XP untiil Vista has gotten better.
Everyone is asking why PC gamers always get the leftovers from consoles, but if you take 10 seconds to think about it you will realise that the companies to not care about the needs of the lesser group, which just so happens to be us. As long as the company makes more money they are content, and holding Halo 2 above the PC gaming comunities heads has lost me some respect for microsoft. All that they looked at when halo 1 was released was how it made the X box sell, and therefore they cut the PC out of the equation to produce it that much faster. Then, when they finally do release it, it is only months before console gamers get their hands on #3, therefore making #2 obsolete in the eyes of all but the PC gamers. The realization that they can pump more money from us is the only reason that they are even releasing it at all. If you don't beleive me you wait for 5 years when #4 comes out for consoles and we are finally served with #3.
Great game, great graphics
There is a reason this game is Vista only... DX10, plain and simple. DX10 will never be written for XP due to incompatibilities with the OS itself. DX10 finally dumps all backwards compatibility and is an complete redesign of the the Direct X programming language. Along with Crysis, Halo 2 will be a staple of the DX 10 visual effects, and Vista as well. Yes, you do have to Vista to play Halo 2 but it's not like Vista has nothing to offer and it is a one time cost that will last you 3-4 years. While it is a pain in the butt, it will be worth it if you pair it with the right graphics card. I just hope they keep the original multi player modes from Xbox live not these new ones Bungie has posted in the last 3-4 months which have totally ruined the fun of Matchmaking on Xbox Live. As long as they stay true to the expectations built by the console version, I expect this game to do quite well.
