That's right, GW2 is B2P which means that you only have to buy the game once, and you can play for as long as you like. No subscription fees at all. I'm so pumped!

The most anticipated game of 2012, easily 10/10

I've been playing Guild Wars since 2006 and following through the beautiful stories of each nation has been a great feature of the predecessor. Guild Wars takes place 250 years before Guild Wars 2 and shows what events have happened in the past which lead to Guild Wars 2 and the way the guild wars team has set it up is just simply a masterpiece. Knowing this and watching tons of videos of Guild Wars 2 I am just dying for it to get released. If you haven't already check out Guild Wars 2 videos, especially WvWvW the most amazing 500+ player pvp and possibly up to 2000(estimated) players.

Pre-Orders (through Arena Net) begin on Tuesday, April 10. Pre-Ordering the game through Arena Net guarantees access to all 3 beta weekends. I expect the first beta weekend to begin either the first or second weekend after pre-orders begin. The beta weekends will run one after the other (three weeks in a row). These beta weekends will run into the games release. This means the game should release on the Tuesday directly after the last beta weekend, or one week after. This means the release date will land on either May 1st or 8th. Diablo 3 is releasing on May 15 so I do not expect GW2 to release on that date.

Why do you think the beta weekends will run 3 weekends in a row when so far they've run 1 month apart? My guess is they will continue to run 1 month apart and so the release will happen in late June or early July.

the only "free" MMO

guild wars was great, and, the game itself, is greater than the fact
theres no monthly fees, which is hard to do
what i like best is,
when they finally decided to release extra content ie; "costumes"
it wasnt comprised of features cut from the game for the purpose of separate sale, like many companies on the DLC band wagon did

the only thing im worried about is that people like me pre-ordered
the game back in 2010, and we have no notice for the possibility
of bonus content
it wont be world ending, if there never is...
but it would be nice if ncsoft arranged for there to be some sort of
pre-order treats
and it would kinda suck to get the same content as someone who
waits till the last minute

Release date?

If your looking for one, you should closely compare it to another game that went into closed beta, in a similar fashion, a month earlier than guild wars 2, and its coming out 5/1... the game will be done when its done, this year, you'll see an open beta around that month and thats when you know its close to release. The company has poured their lives into this game, off the clock and on the clock, on a daily basis, those of you who are in beta, please support them as much as you can. Thanks! ~RB2

Reguardless of what you play or what games you're into, you have to pick up this game. There's no monthly subscription, all you need to do is purchase the game and it's unlimited play for free from there on out. I've looked at hours upon hours of beta footage, and all sorts of things related to Guild Wars 2. This game will change gaming as we know it

I guess you could say im a MMORPG fanboy i play alot of them including WoW, SWTOR, Guild Wars,RIFT,etc... Alot of them are all the same and play about the same and no matter what they say that they are different from each other THEY ARE NOT. However, when i started watching Guild Wars 2 gameplay and some of the footage from the closed beta. It looks and plays different than all the other MMORPG`s I dont know any other MMORPG`s that have a dodge button or that dont have a auto-attack and the best thing about Guild Wars 2 than all the rest is of course NO MONTHLY FEES. Now lets talk release date i know everyone is tired of hearing Arenanet say "When it's finished" so i am here to tell you what i think. Well as you know WoW told everyone in November Pandas were coming to Azeroth and since right now WoW has an open beta for WoW MoP for the Annual Pass Subscribers and all Guild Wars 2 has had is closed beta but in a month will be a open beta. In my oppinion i think WoW MoP will come out before Guild Wars 2 because they are trying to push this game out because the loss of subscribers (12 million to 10.2 million) and also they are already in open beta and Guild Wars 2 is not. But for the release date i think around Q2 2012 because they already have competition from Diablo 3 that announced 5/15/12 and if WoW MoP is already done beta testings then i think we will be seeing Guild Wars 2 at the end of summer if not then Holiday season.

Will it be able to hold my attention?

I've play a lot of MMO's in the last 10 years. Some good ones, and plenty of bad ones. From WoW to LoTRO, Forsaken World to Runescape... Anything I've played in the past has only been able to hold me for 3-5 months before I lost interest. I even though about playing SWTOR, but to me, it looks like all the rest. Just in a Star Wars setting... Guild Wars 2 looks like something new, and original. I applied for the GW2 closed beta, and was rejected. So instead, I resorted to articles and youtube videos. And I can honestly say this is the first MMO I'm actually excited for! I eagerly anticipate it's release, and sincerely hope it will become the first MMO I can stick to.
