Might be a good game if it were playable. Unfortunately the game is just far too buggy to play, even with the latest patch. Fortunately the developers added an auto safe feature, and I can see why, because the game will likely lock up on you every few turns and you have to kill the process and restart the game. Your enthusiasm for playing doesn't last long under those conditions. It doesn't speak well of the company that they released the game with the horrendous bugs it had. They must have known it was virtually unplayable out of the box. And to have failed to even address the constant crashes in the patch is even worse. Sadly I don't think this game will ever be salvaged. Too bad, it might have been interested if it were playable.
New to strategy games
As a new player of strategy games coming from the love of the RPG I admit loving Elven Legacy. First even without customization of character it has the 3D look I enjoy as well as the 'unit look' needed for such a game. The controls are very simple to learn and understand and I have already gotten to the 3rd mission of my first campaign without feeling any frustration whatsoever with the playeability of the game. The graphics are very sweet and flow well even as the size of the units change during battle scenes and this is on a basic Vista Home Premium machine bought at your local chain computer store and not modifed. The one hitch I have found is this is brand new out of the box and has some bugs that I am certain will be corrected quickly. One the map does on occasion open to what I call "background graphics" as it shows the underpinnings of the map instead of the smooth landscape, a quick open the world map and close it fixes this in an instant so my gameplay is not hindered. Had one crash which might have been my pc not the game but still was unhappy. Last as this is labled with Games for Windows I was expecting no hitches. Still love it recommend it for those who love this genre!!
