Product Details:

Devil May Cry 4 immerses gamers in a gothic supernatural world, where a new protagonist clashes with a familiar hero. As the new leading man, Nero, players will unleash incredible attacks and non-stop combos using a unique new gameplay mechanic, his powerful "Devil Bringer" arm.

On the coast of a distant land lies the castle town of Fortuna. It is here that the group known as the Order of the Sword practices a mysterious religion. They revere the demon warrior Sparda, who as their god fought to protect humans, and are committed to the extermination of all demons. Nero, a young knight from the Order, is tasked with finding Dante, the mysterious assassin who murdered the head of the Order of the Sword. At the same time, more demons begin to appear throughout the city. Nero will soon come to discover the motives behind Dante's appearance and the truth behind the intentions of the Order of the Sword.

Features:

Three New Playable Characters:

  • Vergil is a strong, yet technical character, so newcomers can play with confidence while seasoned veterans can further sharpen their skills as they master his moves. Great for all skill levels!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adds more content, more characters, and more fun. I wasn't the biggest fan of Devil May Cry 4 when it first came out on the PS3 and Xbox 360, because it felt incomplete. However, the fact that they added Trish, Lady, and freaking Vergil adds more replay value to the game; as well as more fun. I own this on the PS4, but since the PC version is the only one on Gamestop, I had to review the PC version.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable remaster of a fun, somewhat flawed game. The Devil May Cry series is about the combat. This entry to the series introduces the most complex combat to date, so in that way, if you're willing to toss the hours in to LEARN how to fly through the air destroying demons like a pro... it is the most fun. I say this as a diehard fan and player of the first and third entries of the series (the second one is... worth skipping). This remaster has 5 characters to play as (the original only had two)... and all 5 are actually well-fleshed out and truly a blast to play. They by no means seem tacked on or rushed out. In addition, a CRAZY new mode called "Legendary Dark Knight" was introduced - this mode has literally 3-4x the amount of enemies per area (maybe more) and is a complete blast that utilizes the PS4/XB1 hardware in a meaningful way. The catch to DMC4SE comes with the original games' problems - the whole game's flow is completing some portion of the game with one character, then going all the way back through the same levels (albeit different conditions) with another character. In addition, Dante, the series' protagonist and one of the 5 playable characters, is sadly extremely overloaded with mechanics and moves. The result is, if you spend a ton of hours getting good at him... he is very strong/effective/broken. But to anybody just playing the game for fun or not willing to put that time in on that character - he just seems clunky and unwieldy. \n Compare this to the super fun and satisfying combat from all 4 other characters... it's just sort of sad to see the series' protagonist suffer in that way.
