Rated 8 out of 10 by Eskimo Very good game, but short.
This has to be one of the best platformers I have ever played. To quote a Steam review "Every level has it's own unique style and features, Beautiful art style, Really enjoyable and imaginative platforming, Very short, but satisfactory overall" That's pretty much how I feel about this game. I have to admit, I never got the chance to play the original Castle of Illusion for the Genesis because I was too young to even know what video games were back then. Also, while I was growing up, my family was mostly a Nintendo family. The art style is very pleasing to the eyes and the graphics are surprisingly good(nothing too amazing, but that doesn't matter). The only negative part is that the game is too short and it doesn't have a very long lasting appeal or much replay value since you can get all of the collectibles and trophies/achievements in your first playthrough. Is it worth $15 in my eyes? Eh, not really. Maybe 5-10 dollars, but then again I didn't have to pay for it because I got it free on my PS3 this month(April 2014) with my subscription of playstation plus. It also came with the classic Genesis version(which I plan on playing later) and a theme for the XMB. The only reason I couldn't do a review for the PS3 version is because Gamestop only has the PC version listed here and it's the same game, so who cares? One last thing, the final boss can be frustrating and annoying, but you can just look up a guide if you need to. Still, it's a really fun little game and If you have playstation plus, I urge you to download it right now on your PS3. If you don't game on console, I suggest waiting for a Steam sale. It really isn't worth $15 in my opinion.
