Survival-horror - Not Action-shooter
Forget Aliens: Colonial Marines, Alien vs. Predator, and every other video game entry into the Alien saga. This is not about using big guns to blow the alien away. It's not about hunting the alien. It's about the same thing Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) sought in the original movie: survival. The xenomorph is the force of nature that cannot be fought, only evaded.
Ellen's daughter, Amanda, has become an engineer for the same company her mother worked for: Weyland-Yutani. Her motive is simply to find out what happened to her mother. When the flight recorder of the Nostromo is recovered fifteen years later she joins a crew sent to retrieve it in the hopes of finding closure. What she finds is the same horror her mother and the crew of the Nostromo faced and must use her intellect and cunning to survive and untangle the same web of lies and greed the company used on her mother. How will you survive?
Here We Go!
I am a massive fan of survival horror ever since I played Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and later on, Outlast. This Alien game looks to be in the same vein, and I can't be more excited. I re-watched the original Alien film to prepare myself for this recreation of the experience, and I am sure that I will be terrified as I am stalked by the Xenomorph. With the Nostromo Edition, it will be great to hear the original cast reunited. Hopefully that will end up being a worthwhile DLC. Only a few more days to go and I will be running for my life!
