Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the Money The Roxio HD Pro was a great capture card it does have problems with live streaming but the quality was great even through Roxie is new to HD and for 150 dollars its low price and worth it, it even comes with its own editing software, although its not as good as a professional editing soft ware its simple and its better then windows movie maker all in all its great for a beginner or intermediate YouTube .

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worthless Buggy Software First off I'm not the type of person who bashes everything and actually this is one of my few reviews I have done. I would start off by saying that this product just doesn't work very well. I have a computer well capable of running this software and it doesn't. The software simply crashes and freezes or works fine untill you close it and then your lucky if it will open back up. The pass thru quality is very poor. I bought a hd-pvr after my bad luck with this and the quality on the tv is the same as it would be without the pvr. I think roxio could have a good product but I suggest waiting another year for them to work out all the issues and maybe release a different model.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent for Beginners, but not Anyone Else The Roxio Game Capture HD Pro looks to be a great device at first glance. It supports both HDMI and component cables, it can record at both 720p and 1080p (and also 1080i and 480p), and it is very sleek and portable. However, if you dig underneath all of the features there lies a problematic and disappointing capture card. When you open the box you'll get the game capture itself, an instruction sheet, the Roxio software installation disc, and a USB cable to connect your new Roxio to the computer. The package does NOT come with any cables to plug your Roxio to either your game device or your TV. You need to buy or already own both of those cables which is a bit ridiculous for a capture card aimed for not only experts, but starters at well. The included Roxio recording software is, however, pretty solid. Capturing in both 720p and 1080p is relatively smooth (at least with a decent PC) and it gives you the option to play at 1080p while recording at 720p. It's a nice feature. The quality is pretty good as well. It is nearly as good as the AVerMedia Game Capture HD, Elgato, and Hauppauge HD PVR. The only problem I encountered with the raw footage quality was that the videos seem to have a hazy effect to them, almost as if you are viewing them through a window. The recording software includes the option to adjust the brightness and contrast of your videos while recording, but you can never really make them look just right. The software also includes an editing component. The editing software is fairly robust, at least in simple terms. You can add text and PIP (picture in picture). You can add other clips to your videos, cut them short and adjust brightness and contrast. The editing isn't nearly as in depth as, say, Sony Vegas (but that's to be expected). You're not going to be able to make your videos truly pop like other video editing software. Another problem I found is that once you render your videos out through this editing software, the video suffers a significant loss of quality. Even if you press to keep the video settings "same as original", it still seems to have a quality dip. At this point, you may be asking yourself what exactly the major issues with this capture device are. The capture device seems to have a lot of neat features to it. However, it all seems to be ruined when you export your video file after capturing it. The Roxio Game Capture HD Pro only exports videos out as an .m2ts file. No .mp4 or other formats. To a newcomer who doesn't plan on editing their videos much, this isn't a big problem. But it you are planning on consistently editing your videos to make them look truly professional, then this becomes a a huge issue. Video editors like Sony Vegas Pro and Camtasia Studio are not compatible with this video format, and converting the videos to work with these programs becomes a mess. The included Roxio video editing software, as mentioned before, is nice but does not offer customization options or professional editing tools to make your videos look amazing. Roxio has never released any drivers to fix the .m2ts format issue, so trying to find a way to import your videos to Sony Vegas is a tedious and stressful mess that seems to never end. This alone should make all experienced users, or even newcomers wanting to become professional, stay away from this capture card. Another flaw with this device is the its live streaming capabilities. The Roxio can live stream directly to twitch.tv or justin.tv through its recording software. You can upload HD footage with narration (as long as you have a USB mic). But the problem is that the live streaming feature is insanely bare-bones. There is no way to add a face-cam, watermark, or any other kind of enhancements. What's even worse is that the Roxio Game Capture HD is not compatible with XSplit. This is a huge downfall as XSplit is a full featured live streaming software that many people use. This also makes it so it is impossible to upload to YouTube (at least with decent quality). Roxio says the capture card can live stream directly from the software itself. That's true, but it's insanely misleading. The Roxio Game Capture HD Pro is a good capture card for beginners, but it does not serve enough for experienced users. Anyone looking to go pro should stay away from this, as it's only suitable for starters due to its limitations. If you don't plan on getting big on the internet and just want to upload some videos with friends, you could do much worse than the Roxio Game Capture HD Pro. To anyone wanting to get their moneys worth and make professional looking videos, however, should stay away from this.
