Product Details:

An Island Egg-venture Starring Yoshi - The third installment in this beloved franchise makes its way to the Nintendo 3DS system.

New Island. New Adventure.
Same Awesome Yoshi.

The little Mario Bros. are in big trouble. Help Yoshi save the day - with help from cool power-ups, giant Eggdozers, and crazy transformations.

Welcome to Egg Island

This is the fantastical home of Yoshi and all of his colorful friends. The island is packed with secret areas, collectibles, puzzles, and of course, lots of enemies.

Yoshi's Egg-cellent Adventure

Gobble up bad guys, toss egg missiles, outwit puzzles, and uncover secrets - all while carrying a baby through treacherous terrain... Yep, this sounds like a job for Yoshi.

Super-Size your Egg-Munitions

Yoshi can create eggs from nearly any enemy he scarfs down. And now, he's got an even bigger arsenal, with gigantic eggs that can smash through all kinds of barriers. Ready, aim, and fire eggs at the bad guys using gyro controls or buttons.

Mega Eggdozers are massive eggs that Yoshi can use to crash through walls or large areas. The heavy Metal Eggdozers can help Yoshi dive underwater, as well as roll right through enemies and obstacles.

Transform, Tilt, and Twist

When Yoshi walks through the Whirly Gates in certain areas, he'll transform into a helicopter, a bobsled, a jackhammer, and more. Use your system's gyro controls to steer him to the goal before time runs out!

Yoshi Stars - Yoshi can race up walls and ceilings with a Yoshi Star, or blast off like a rocket with a Red Yoshi Star.

Flutter Wings - These wings allow Yoshi to flutter-fly, making it easier to avoid traps and pitfalls.

Watermelons - Different types of watermelons let Yoshi breathe fire or ice, or spit seeds at enemies.

Team up in 2-Player Mode

You'll unlock 2-player minigames as you progress through your single-player adventure. Connect with a friend's system using local Wireless or Download Play and show off your Yoshi skills*!

  • Yoshi's New Island keeps the series' fun game-play mechanics such as Yoshi's Flutter Jump, Ground Pound and Egg Throw while also offering new abilities. For example, use the giant-sized Mega Eggs to mow down obstacles, destroy pipes and blocks, and reveal hidden doors.
  • Using the Nintendo 3DS system's gyro sensor functionality and the new binocular ability, players can move the system around to uncover hidden areas as well as better aim Mega Egg throws.
  • Throughout the game, different worlds feature a variety of art styles, including oil, watercolor and crayon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It didn't seem very new to me I found that the 3ds version (compared to the GBA version) was very similar. I didn't see very many new things. The boss battles are new and refreshing, but the majority of the levels seemed extremely familiar, so it wasn't very challenging or fun for me. If you haven't played the GBA version, then try this game! The overall play is fun. It's worth a shot. However, if you are like me, and were expecting a new and different version than the GBA version, don't get your hopes up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sometimes the old ways are better. I really enjoyed this game from start to finish. I was a fan of the Super Nintendo version back in the day and I got to say this game brought the same enjoyment the old one had. It has the same feel as the original version for the most part, but with better sound, graphics and smoother gameplay. I've always been a fan of Yoshi and his games (especially Yoshi's Story) so this was no different. If you're a fan of Mario/Yoshi games then I'd recommend this game for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Mario lovers!! I played the original Yoshi's Island on Super Nintendo back in the 90's and it was one of my favorite games. When this came out for the 3DS I bought it and it has not disappointed. It sticks to the original game in almost every aspect but with modern graphics and just a few gameplay changes. I would recommend this game to new and experienced gamers alike!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun but almost too easy For those returning to the series, you may be a little let down. However, if you don't let nostalgia get in the way of what you expect, you will enjoy this game. For newcomers, you may like the game regardless. In Yoshi's New Island, we follow Yoshi and his friends on a great adventure. The levels are new and exciting and there are a lot of fun minigames to play along the way. Unfortunately, the game is easy, almost too easy. If you rush through you will be feeling let down. Don't be surprised if you have over 100 lives by the end of the first world. There are several collections you can get in each level if you are a 100% kind of person. Some of the collections are difficult to obtain as it requires exploration of the level (which is pretty fun to do!). If you are looking for a game to relax with, this game would be perfect. If you are looking for a challenge, you may want to skip this title. Personally, I love the game and hope you will enjoy it too :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Fun if you like exploration. One of the very first things that i noticed about this game when i first played it was that the levels were supposed to be explored. The game wants you to find all the collectibles and stuff, but if you just speed run every level, you can finish this game in like an hour. It's very fun and i recommend it to anybody, but i would recommend it more to people who like slow paced and exploration type games.
