I am glad I waited for this game. This game is so great. The editing your farm and the inside of the house is awesome. Making you character look different everyday and the way you can rent and battle for other fields was unexpected but a nice surprise. I do wish it let you move the actual house but is still a great game. There is so much to do other than farming and keeps you wanting to play it for hours. Great game for all you harvest moon fans out there. Buy it

I have played every Harvest Moon game since Friends of Mineral Town back on the Advanced. Harvest Moon: Lost Valley was such a disappointment. I put 20 hours into it, waiting for it to be enjoyable, and finally just left it alone without looking back. I had HUGE hopes for Story of Seasons, and it has exceeded my expectations far and wide in just 3 hours of game play. I am only one game day past the tutorial, but I have head over heels in love. The controls are simple, the explanations and the tutorial are wonderfully written and presented. I fully expect to put 100+ more hours into this game. The character customization blows the choices in A New Beginning out of the water, and the townsfolk are all unique with their own ways of speaking. They each have their own personality and style. The Trade Depot (where you can sell your wares and purchase exotic items, crops, and animals) is easy to understand and navigate. It was the only part I was worried about, but they definitely hit the nail on the head. I highly recommend this game!!!

But now it should be called Story of Seasons. I was SO disappointed with a Tale of Two Towns and A New Beginning. This game brings back everything I loved: interesting characters, great heart events, making the best farm, and new things as well: competitions with fellow farmers so you don't feel like the only person in the game who's busy, "connectivity with other worlds/towns/traders" and just a great sense of fun. Once you get past week 1-tutorial week-you can do what you want-fishing, swimming, harvesting crops, planting crops, wooing your "special someone", wrecking your rivals in competitions, etc. And did I mention that the characters are really interesting and likeable? You won't have to worry about snobbish people *Allen* in Story of Seasons! Unless you decide you want to go after the rich girl, Elise-though she seems to have a different side to her than when you start out.

If the horrible graphics arent enough to turn you away, just playing through the tutorial will be enough. this is by far the worst game i have ever played and hate myself for wasting a non-refundable 40 dollars on it.

I haven't been disappointed with my purchase. One of the best Harvest Moon game's I've played so far. Graphics could have been a bit better though.

I know this is a Harvest Moon extension. I am a HUGE fan of Rune Factory and Fantasy Life. I wanted to try out a farming simulator and heard this was going to be next best thing. Disappointed... Farming is okay, but they really don't go into and it is a lot of figure it out yourself... Gaining materials is hard and few and far between. Crafting is okay. Cooking is okay. Animals are okay. I accidentally threw my fishing pole in the water while trying to fish. Took me two whole seasons and 100,000 to finally get the sewing station to make yarn so I could create a new one. The people in town are boring and say the same things every single day so i just stopped talking to them. Go buy Animal Crossing or Rune Factory instead...

After Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley, I was starting to lose hope in general when it came to seeing a game that generally appealed to me and made me feel anything other than mild intrigue. However, Story of Seasons has far surpassed my expectations by taking everything I loved in the original Harvest Moon games and improving it in terms of graphics, design, features and sound. The game environment is absolutely stunning, the characters all have life and depth, making you want to immerse yourself in the community opposed to sticking to your own little farm area. Any long term 'Harvest Moon' fan knows 'Harvest Moon: Back To Nature' and I have to say, in terms of revolutionary gameplay and lasting appeal, it is on par, if not better than 'Back To Nature'.

Story of Seasons is a great game, that incorporates many aspects of fun play. Harvesting a couple of Turnips from your backyard, and brushing a cow doesn't seem to fun, but it surely is (trust me, I had the same thoughts, "Farming? How is that fun?" then I played a previous game in this series and I have been hooked since.)The only main problem I had with this game was that at the beginning of the game, there were a lengthy tutorial, and an absence of things to do. However, as soon as you get past this process (about 15 days in-game), Story of Seasons is a wonderful, in-depth, and enjoyable game. The sound is fun and makes you want to never supply your own music (I tend to listen to my own music when playing video games, but this game made me stop this 'rule' when playing). The Gameplay is great always supplying you with fun material to play (Yes... Even when farming your 9 Potatoes before Summer comes around) throughout. The graphics, are colorful and captivating! You will come back again and again for this game. You will have noticed that you have put many seasons in this game and making your own story however you like (by customizing many areas as you please, your farms, the town, ect.). This is YOUR story, and this game shows it!

From the moment I created a file in Story of Seasons, I was undeniably hooked. As most know, this is the newest "true" Harvest Moon installment, and it does not disappoint its predecessors. The story begins like most other Harvest Moon titles (this is your new farm from some family member, blah blah), but the endless amount of features in this game somehow separates it from previous Harvest Moon games in the best possible way. Farming becomes more enjoyable, as your equipment upgrades make it easier and easier to water an entire crop field, which you'll be grateful for as you have animals to care for, a safari to mine, and a farm that begs you to customize it with your choice of decor. Shipping is a little more difficult, as you have to wait for traders to come into town and purchase your goods. The more you sell to these traders, the more traders unlock, which gives you access to all new items, farm animals, crops, blueprints, and clothing design patterns. Some people didn't like having to wait for traders to visit, but that aspect actually motivated me to unlock the rest of the vendors so that purchasing new goods felt more satisfying. Crafting clothes, jewelry, tools, and house upgrades can be very difficult. Some craft-able items need materials that cannot be found until year three or later, which encourages the player to log more hours in Oak Tree Town. Now, my favorite part.. The bachelors and bachelorettes. There are six eligible men and women for you to choose from, and they're all drastically different. So, choosing one that fits your tastes won't be difficult. They all have entertaining backstories, so you'll more than likely enjoy watching any and all of their character progressions. Outside of the marriage material, the other NPC's are a blast to get to know too. Everyone in Oak Tree Town is pretty eccentric, so you'll never get bored speaking to anyone in town. The last feature I'll cover is the competition aspect the game has implemented. Players are able to compete with other NPC farmers for access to fields that are spread around town. This is a detrimental part of the game, because certain crops can only be grown in these winnable fields. In order to experience the game fully, unlocking and winning these fields will be your saving grace. Overall, this is an amazing game that's well worth the money and the days you'll spend in bed exploring all that Story of Seasons has to offer.

Your first seven days are a tutorial, making this game a perfect game to the Harvest Moon series (now known as Story of Seasons). It might be tedious for old veterans of this series. (You can press X during dialogue to speed it up. Nifty.) Once you get past the first seven days, your life as a farmer will finally begin. There's a few new things introduced in this game: No shipping bins. There's a Trade Depot instead where you trade with various countries. You'll have to wait to sell sometimes, because the vendors are not there everyday. You can swim. Jump in and press A when you see a red exclamation point above your head, and you will dive down and come up with fish, a can, a rock, a branch, or something rarer if you're lucky. Farming is a lot more simple in this game. You use the hoe to till any free areas you want and gives you a square 3x3 plot. That means one bag of seeds nets you 9 crops. And you don't have to water each single square either. All you do is hold A on one plot and it waters all 9 squares. It's a lot quicker. A LOT quicker. I just got this game today, and I have to say, I'm enjoying it a lot. The visuals are nice. The music is nice. The missing shipping bin is a bit of a downer, but I can do without one.
