Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Detailed Review for RT:ET (2015) For those who are still interested in purchasing this game, let me give my updated review, considering the majority of reviews were of the demo. To summarize, Rhythm Thief is a music/ rhythm based game that I'd recommend to those who enjoy casual and hardcore gamers. The game's story mode contains numerous activities/ games, which are usually altered and later reused in future portions of the story. The game's story (summary is above), is a great twist in which the MC takes on a double life in order to search for his missing father, which results in him stumbling across a variety of colorful characters. *Gameplay: (7) The gameplay can be highly relatable to that of the Professor Layton series, where the player must solve numerous puzzles in order to proceed. These puzzles can range from a minute to 5, depending on the player's capability, and are usually fun and unique when played through. The problem for this is that the mini-puzzles are usually reused and tweaked before played again in the future, which can result in a bland playthrough. Another issue would regard the difficulty. In a case where the player finds themselves stuck, there is no option of a hint, and even the lack of quitting the game which means either going online for help, or turning the system off without being able to save. The biggest issue however (I guarantee you'll see this problem among other critical reviewers) are the controls. It's perfectly acceptable to say that Sega was just learning the controls of the 3DS' capabilities, but the controls are atrocious. Several games depend on the 3DS motion control settings, and about half of the time, the 3DS will not read the movements of a player, meaning that a perfect score can be near impossible. Combined with the increasing difficulty of the game, and you've got a problem on your hands. *Graphics: (8) The graphics of RT are fair and colorful, to an extent. The graphics are well for the time it was released, and is displayed in a side-scrolling style, with an obvious 2D environment (the only exception being during the games with 3D models). The colors used are beautiful, and vibrant on appropriate occasions. The character images are decently made, though extend to little changes back in forth, ex: hand gestures, facial expressions. Like the Layton series, the game contains full animated cutscenes which are superbly made, and are enough to keep the player wanting more for the screen to turn to black and show an amazing animation (although there has been complaints of poor voice acting within the game) *Sound: (9) The one thing I can certainly credit this game on, is the music and sound effects. As a rhythm game, it would be more or less expected of, and lives up to that title. The tracks, starting from the main theme, are beautiful and vary in style, meaning it can go from pop to classical. Each piece creates an appropriate atmosphere for every mini game, and can be unlocked after the game. Several favorites of mine would be the Rhythm Thief Theme, Moon Princess, and Day in Paris. The only fault I can find would be the timing of the music in several mini games, which can throw you off your game. *Lasting Appeal: (9) Allow me to sum this game on my own terms. First, the negatives: to summarize, the Rhythm Thief has poor controls, and provides little to no help when needed (which is why I deem new players to have some sort of experience with casual and hardcore games). Besides the controls, the story lacks quite a lot of information (sure enough for Honest Trailers/ Cinemasins to have a word with) as it progresses quite quickly, with things such as (*nothing too spoiler-wise ahead*) "why did Raphael end up trust Marie so quickly?" and "how can the Parisian officers not tell that Raphael is Phantom R?". These gaps have honestly been a huge reason of why I wasn't able to fully enjoy the game, but nonetheless tell a decent story. Despite all this, Rhythm Thief has a special place in my heart, and is no doubt my favorite rhythm game. The story is simple and sweet, and is adjusted so you're looking at an actual story mode, instead of the normal casual style of numerous rhythm games that are played just for the style of it. The characters are colorful and vary from one another, and hold a special place in the game, and finally, the charm of it all is overwhelming. Most people seek to play games in order to do what we would never attempt in reality, but in the shoes of Raphael, we are able to experience the world of a fast-paced city thief who tries to juggle his normal life and hidden identity (much like Persona 5). Whether or not you've had experience with this genre, I recommend purchasing Rhythm Thief: and the Emperor's Treasure, and wait like the rest of us for it's well deserved sequel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My absolute favorite game! I love to play new games and randomly chose this one because of the cover it had and it turned out to be a fabulous game. I loved the gameplay and liked all the surprises it threw at me and the good music. There was a good developing character and a good story being told. I would highly recommend getting this game if you like an adventure game with music and an interesting story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Everything about this game is great. Since I breezed through the games, the story felt too short to me, but it's still a very nice game that every 3DS owner should have.
