not the best pokemon game
as you saw I said this game was for casual gamers and I mean it. I played this game and once it ended I said "that's it?" the gameplay is so easy admit it , team flare is not a good bad guy team. what the other games have that this game doesn't is that there is more interaction with the gym leaders and the main pokemon ( Xerneus or Yveltal) like in pokemon diamond or pearl the whole game is surrounded by the legendary pokemon so if you are going to buy this game well just wait for the next one
A gripping exprerience.
Pokemon x and y review
Pokemon x and y are my first Pokemon games ever. Skeptical as I was, the doubt was still shadowed in comparison to my curiosity. In my mind the Pokemon looked almost like loot, sort of like a borderlands, or diablo sort of thing. And I was quite right, just like those loot driven games, Pokemon x and y straps you in to catch and train every Pokemon you can.
The graphics in this game are amazing. The 3d Pokemon look better than ever before, and especially their moves and attacks. In previous Pokemon games, the pictures of e Pokemon would basically jump to either indicate damage taken or dealt. Now each Pokemon does a certain animation according to the move which is quite cool, especially the dragon-type moves which are very cinematic. The level design and esthetics are quite varied, which designates one area from the other in which making finding Pokemon and guessing where they came from very easy. The 3d in battle graphics are interesting but never quite wowed me due to them being irritating to the eyes, are just useless.
Now for the story, formulaic is a word to describe it. It follows the same good coming from a small town then rising up and becoming great to defeat someone abusing Pokemon, or trying to destroy the world, yadayadayada. The game tries to have some heartfelt moments but never succeeds. These moments are then followed by the actual main attraction of the game, the battles.
The battles in this game are some of the best turn-based fights i have ever seen in a game. The game focuses on hardcore RPG like elements, such as leveling up your Pokemon, learning new skills, training them and so on. These side elements in the end lead to better performance from your Pokemon battle, such as the higher affection a Pokemon has towards you the more it is likely to dodge attacks or deal critical damage. I love that basically everything you do with your Pokemon will lead to it performing better in battle, in which giving some side mini-games such as petting or feeding the Pokemon worth it in the end. As i said before Pokemon feel a lot like loot, in borderlands or diablo. Around every corner there are new Pokemon to catch, kill, or use that Pokemon to level up your own. The only possible small complaint i may have towards the combat may be that some moves such as tail whip, or other moves that either decrease or increase your opponent's or your own stats, are completely useless. These skills take the whole turn and in the end do nothing because the enemy is just gonna throw an attack that actually does damage and turn the tides of the battle.
Overall Pokemon x and y deliver in nearly every aspect with stellar visuals and gameplay, the only downside would be the formulaic that is entertaining for only so long, but i gurantee you this game will last you a good 70-80 hours of gameplay, if you really wanted to with all the side content. That being said if you want to just see the credits roll then you are in for a lengthy 21-23 hours of story mode.
Score: "Addicting" 9.7/10
Amazing 3DS game
Great game, must buy for hardcore gamers who IV breed and EV train pokemon with the completely remodeled system.
I Was Never In To Pokemon, Ever. But When I Got This Game, I Can't Stop Thinking About It! This Game Is Perfect For Casual Or Kid Gamers. The Gamplay Is Awesome And The Story Of The Game Is Pretty Fascinating Too. I Would Definitely Recommend This Game To Someone.
This is one of the BEST games game freak ever made it has a little bit of everything starting from 3D models and graphics to new Pokemon. It reminds me a lot of the first gen which is epic would diffidently say buy right now if you considering.
Buy this game, even if you don't like Pokemon you'll like... no love this game it's fun for everyone.
this is a great game. this version of the game is the best. I am very happy with this game. I think everybody should try this game.
This Game is AMAZING!!!
this game is really amazing, the graphics are great, the sound quality and music are both top notch, and the game-play is overall very fun, although it does have some drawbacks, the story, while entertaining, could have been fleshed out more, with team flare, the history of mega evolution, and the back-story and character development of AZ and his special floette, another flaw is that there is little to no post game game-play whatsoever, i thought the detective work you got to do with Looker was cool, i hope that for the sequel that they expand upon the story, character developments, back-story to characters, and most importantly the post game game-play, dont get me wrong the game is still loads of fun, the developers just fell short in a few areas and i hope they make them better in the sequel, i definitely recommend this game to newcomers in the series, its very easy to pick up and play
It's a Pokérevolution!
I want to start off this brief review by saying that this was a step in the right direction for the Pokemon franchise. The way the game is presented in these 3D environments makes the experience infinitely better than previous installments. I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes next over the next few years. So, without further adieu, 7 badges into the game, I give you my review: 1. The battle animations are amazing. Particle effects are superb. 2. Pokemon models look great in 3D. 3. Sky battles, hordes, and combo battle moves make for interesting gameplay. 4. Riding Pokemon! 5. The number of Pokemon you can encounter in a single route offers a lot of variety in how many Pokemon you can catch. 6. The gyms are very creatively designed. 7. If I can sit and play a game for more than 5 hours, it's a good game. It's worth the buy if you haven't picked it up yet. ***My ONLY gripe so far with this game is the rollerblades. They drive me absolutely insane and I'm not sure you can take them off. It makes it incredibly annoying and difficult to turn into small spaces or stop at the right spot to walk into a building.
Best Pokemon game yet. Amazing gameplay, awesome graphics, plenty of things to do. Definitely pick this up if you have a 3DS.
