Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth
Counting down the days...
Let me start off by saying Persona is one of my favorite RPG series ever made and it's always felt at home on portable consoles. I've seen gameplay of the Japanese version released in June and it plays like an Etrian Odyssey game. If you're unaware of the EO franchise, it's a super tough, super addicting dungeon crawler RPG where you pick a party of 5 members and given the task of mapping out the many floors of a labyrinth. Although it sounds tedious on paper, it's incredibly satisfying in action. The top screen works as a first person dungeon where the bottom half of the 3DS is essentially your graph paper for drawing the map. The bottom of the screen gives you tons of custom tools and there's even an option for the game to draw a basic version of the map for you if that's not your thing. If you want to get a taste of the EO series, I'd suggest Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl. I've been playing it for about a week now, and all it's done is make me even more excited about Persona Q!
(I cheer in excitement)!
I am very glad they are making a new Persona game. If you want my opinion on the series, Persona 3 and 4 are some of the best games I have ever played, and have got me even more into gaming as a whole, and I am currently playing through Persona 2 as well. Hearing that there is going to be another authentic RPG in the Persona series (or even another P4A game, to be honest), is great news to me. I also heard that it combines the characters from both 3 and 4, which can lead to some interesting events in the story, if you ask me. Plus, they are going to add some features from Etrian Odyssey (another great series) to Persona Q, which can further extend some of the creative features of the game. I'll say it again. I am very excited for this game.
A Fun Story
Even though this game is much different from Persona 3 and 4 it is still very fun and very unique. The combat system is a little different from the Persona games but the characters are all the same. My favorite thing is that they kept the PERSONAlities (lol) the same even while meshing these two games together. Very fun and a must have if you already have a 3DS.
Looking forward to the game
Personally i don't think that not having the characters show up in battle should deter you from getting the game. Most handheld RPGs are like this to save on cartridge space, Think of it being like the turn base FF system on handhelds. They don't show the actual characters doing the battling. If that really takes away from your experience with this game then you shouldn't down the game for this. Not all games are perfect. Other than that, it's been a while since I've look forward to a game in this manner. I just fell in love with Persona 4 and when I found out they were coming out with Persona Q and on a handheld nonetheless I literally flipped out in excitement. I look forward to playing the game and writing a proper review on it.
Pretty much the same as the usual but a much different story line and new enemies and areas to explore. Graphics for the 3ds were great though and the voice acting seemed to work out really well.
I just went to gamestop and did not know about this so now I will have to go back soon and pre-order this. I loved persona 4 and I hope this lives up to it.
So pumped for this game!
I'm so pumped for this game to come out! I want to get into the persona series and see what all the buzz is about
Aw man I played persona 3 and 4 and those were the best games ever so i def have high hopes for this one and its true because I am writing a preview and I never write these if you love or even into rpgs a little this game series is a definite buy!
NO! JUST SIMPLY NO! Now I know what you're thinking, " who is this idiot that is rejecting a PERSONA GAME?" Well, let me explain first. This seems like an EXTREMELY GOOD IDEA FOR A VIDEO GAME. HOWEVER! I am one of those people that likes to see the characters fight, instead of seeing only the enemies! THAT'S RIGHT PEOPLE! YOU WILL NOT SEE THE CHARACTERS IN BATTLE BESIDES THE CUTSCENES. HOW INFURIATING IS THAT?!?!?! That alone just killed this game for me. Making the characters smaller and such I can deal, along witha mash up of worlds, HECK YEAH! but when you CAN'T EVEN SEE THE WHOLE BATTLEFIELD IS WHERE I DRAW THE LINE.
I love the Shin Megami Tensei series and it's spin offs!! Plus I love the spin offs of the spin offs!! If it is by Atlus I know it is going to be AMAZING!!!! My boyfriend and I have both pre-ordered it!!
