Product Details:

From the critically acclaimed director, Hideo Kojima, a new 3D experience re-imagined from one of the most popular Metal Gear Solid titles from the past, comes Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater.

In the aftermath of the Second World War, the world was torn in two between East and West. It was the beginning of a new era- the Cold War.

October 16, 1962. The President of the United States received word that the Soviet Union had deployed nuclear missiles in Cuba. The world trembled in fear as the prospect of nuclear war loomed ever closer. After days of tense negotiations, the Soviets finally agreed on the 28th to withdraw their missiles from Cuban soil. With the resolution of this incident, later to be known as the Cuban Missile Crisis, it seemed that humanity had survived yet another threat to its existence.

However, there was a secret condition in the deal that put an end to the crisis. Nokolai Stepanovich Sokolov, a Soviet scientist who had defected to the West, was to be sent back to the Soviet Union. The U.S. government agreed to this stipulation, and returned Sokolov back to his native land. Little did they know that Sokolov was to be the designer of a nightmarish weapon. Now, with Sokolov back in their hands, the Soviets are ready to resume its development. If this weapon is completed, it will mark the beginning of a new age of fear.

August 1964. Realizing at last the urgency of the situation, the CIA forms a plan to recapture Sokolov. They dispatch the covert FOX unit to Sokolov's research facility, located to the south of the great Soviet fortress of Groznyj Grad. Led by former SAS member Major Zero, FOX is a next-generation special-forces unit that operates both as a specialized combat group and as a covert intelligence outfit. The FOX unit's modus operandi is to send a single agent, backed by radio support from afar, into enemy territory to carry out solo sneaking missions.

August 24. A lone soldier swoops down from out of the blue. The man's code name is Naked Snake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best on 3DS MGS 3 Snake Eater remains one of the most beloved titles in the series. And this 3DS version is in many ways the definitive version. Unlike the HD remaster of MGS3; the 3DS version benefits from the enhanced controls of MGS Peacewalker. Being able to walk while crouched makes the game far easier to play. The touch screen allows for even greater inventory management. The 3D is utilized well. And one of the other unique features is the 'camo creation'. You can take a photo using the 3DS's cameras you can then map that photo as a camo for use in game. The story is well written and delivers a complex plot that isn't seen very often in other 3DS games. If your looking for a game that offers a thrilling story; and the best of stealth gameplay? Look no further than this game. Its quite honestly one of the best games on 3DS.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A fantastic game This game was a lot of fun, even for newcomers to the Metal Gear Solid franchise such as myself. The story is gripping and interesting and the presentation compliments the cutscenes and the gameplay. The gameplay itself is great and it's always satisfying to sneak around without getting spotted. Although the controls are *really* difficult to get used to, I think they're fine. Note I haven't played any other versions of MGS3 and I haven't played this game with the circle pad pro. The boss battles are for the most part great. There are a few exceptions though... Metal Gear Solid 3D is definitely a great addition to the 3DS library. If you're interested in it there's a demo on the Nintendo E-Shop. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MGS 3: Snake Eater when i bought this game i expected it to be short, well i have not beat it yet. The game is a perfect combo of action, adventure, and gore. It is like Call of duty but not first person, there is no puzzle involved, it is non stop shooting and surviving and knifing, it is the best 3ds game i have ever played. I would buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SOLID Game Metal Gear Solid 3, originally created on the Playstation 2, has now been ported over to the 3DS, and looks as good as ever. Any 3DS owner must buy this game it is absolutely fantastic. Anyone trying out the Metal Gear Solid series, this is the way to go as this game takes place before the others. The story for MGS 3D is great, coming from a Metal Gear Solid Game this isn't surprising, fantastic as always but a bit hard to understand at times. Metal Gear Solid 3 has the best video game story I've seen lately. Graphics are great, looks even better with the 3D on, comparing it to the HD Version however, I haven't noticed much of a difference besides the 3D. The game sounds great and has the best soundtrack of any Metal Gear game. Controls are rather annoying, but the Circle Pad Pro fixes this problem. The game however doesn't feature any other content, which is an issue, but the game is fun to replay on higher difficulties and no alerts etc. For $35, your getting one of the best 3DS games of all time for a great deal.
